Not sure it's soared, gone up a bit but doubt soared. The car will just be put back to where it should have been, plus a bit.
I might be wrong though, it has been known. Allegedly.

Agree Dave,
Although I'd say increased in value in terms of confidence, not value as in £, but as the owner, to me, those two things intertwine

When we bought our boat, the only reason we bought it was because it had a new engine and leg, 5 yrs later its been totally prefect, wise decision.
I would get it on a ramp when you get it back and check every screw/clip and pipe/cable is routed correctly, this will save you hassle in the long run.

I had a new engine and gear box free from LR its a new car each to there own......
A week ago last Friday, after much deliberation, I finally purchased a D4. It's absolutely brilliant, however, 48 hours later it's on the back of a recovery truck requiring half a new engine.
It's not costing me anything, LR are fitting it and the seller has been brilliant so far. Once it's all done in another week I'll post up the recommendations.
Your ownership lasted longer than mine, traded mine in just over three weeks ago, insurance changed, all I had to do was pay the difference and drive away. Arrived to collect, Air Bag Light on, couldn't take it obviously, couldn't drive away in the old one as I did not have insurance from 2.30pm and the insurance company was closed till the Monday morning, so technically I'm not an owner at the moment and haven't been for just over three weeks, still awaiting it to be repaired. Must say though the Landmark they've lent me is 8) 8) so not concerned about them rushing to repair it.
only the rebuilds have the locating lugs that correct the problem
It would be really useful to have the source of that information please?
I'm surprised that if LR is aware of a problem they are addressing it only on rebuilt engines, and not on the production line for new engines.

It's what I was told by a bloke on the phone. He was from 1/3 garages that have been involved so I don't have a name. Quite possible that it's untrue, as are most things we get told.

The production line was using the bearings with locating lugs.
Confirmed to me when i called Federal Mogul Technical and quoted the part number for the bearings i had.
He asked me how i had got hold of them as they were production line only and not for resale.
Obviously somehow they are getting onto the market, ebay have quite a few.

Perhaps as it was not a stock car, just traded in so not one off the Forecourt this may not apply. They never suggested it was possible as they arranged a replacement off the Demo Fleet.

Many thanks.
Very interesting as this means that JLR are clearly aware of the main bearing rotation problem, which must assist in getting help from them if you have this problem.

What was the process of getting LR to agree to cover the repair?
I suspect the Dealer being EX Land Rover & close to the local dealership had a massively helpful effect.
I would like to hear from Land Rover Customer service on procedure should this happen to a car sold by an independent dealer or purchased privately?

The private dealer has done it all himself. I will report back when I get the car, hopefully Friday or Monday.
I will report back when I get the car, hopefully Friday or Monday {3rd or 6th June}.
It has been suspiciously quiet since then, do I assume you are still waiting for your car to be returned with a new short engine?
Would you update us please? Reasons for the delay etc..
Was there ever a proper diagnosis of the failure of your old engine?
Good luck.
