Just whatever you do don't let anyone open the bin. That was a tough concept for SWMBO to grasp but she got there in the end. Thumbs Up

Luckily my brown wheely bin is garden waste so it has a fair chance of surviving in the winter. Thumbs Up

My FBH didn't fire once last year, so wrote it off as being 'dead' and added it tot he list of jobs....even removed the remote thingy system. Wouldn't work even with IID tool telling it to work Sad

Then this morning it fires up? Shocked Shocked Shocked

So I think I'll see how it goes over the coming days, then stick the remote thingy back on Thumbs Up

At what temperature are they supposed to come on? Had -1 here the other day and nothing happened.

How do you test if it's working? Mine is a '02 plate D4 HSE.

The 2002 D4s are pretty rare, so who knows? Laughing

Comes on when it needs heat and the outside air temp is below 9 deg C.

Loads of info in the wiki.

Is there a way of getting spare parts for the heaters?

Mine is non working and the IID tool shows up temperature sensor fault.
Won't run, purge or do anything via the tool.

Would like to get it running as the heater was great on my old TD4 freeby for warming the cabin in winter.

I would say the first step is unplug the coolant pump electrical connector from the FBH (3 pin connector with 2 pins used), and check the pump for continuity/short with a multimeter.

In response to AJM - yes you can get spares. Some from LR, others from Webasto dealers.
