Fitted the electrics this afternoon - almost. Thanks to Gareth and rbees once again for the invaluable information. Under the bonnet, no problem at all. Under the dash, though - could not move the green plug (below the fuse box) for love nor money Twisted Evil The black wire for plugging into it has ended up slightly short too and will need rerouting, but I ran out of light so I'll have to try again later in the week.

Why don't they do LH and RH instructions? Gareth - don't know how you did it without any help. I certainly would have been stumped without the info in this thread.

I used to repair aircraft for a living. The planes I used to fix were all British built military aircraft, so I'm used to crap drawings Wink

Does someone know the diameter of the LR Lamps? I'm not able to find it anywhere. Thanks!

Tami, I'll measure it for you tonight. However, I really think you'd be happier with some nice IPF's or Hella's. These 55w lights are dimmer than the stock halogen headlights, let alone the Xeon's if that's what you've got.

Thanks very much Nathan! I'm not planning on getting the LR ones, but trying to figure out what size they are in comparison for finding some, don't wanna go too big or small & have it look funny. Confused The LR ones look just the right size aesthetically. Thumbs Up

Adjusting the position of the light beams

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the angle of the front spots. Mine seem to be pointing at low flying aircraft ?

If you remove the Land Rover badge, there is a toothed wheel that you 'might' be able to loosen to adjust the angle. If its too tight, then remove the cross-head screws from the side of the light and pull the beam unit out of the case. You will see a 10mm nut in the centre of the toothed wheel, slacken it a touch and align the lamps.

Its a bit trial and error with the second method, because you will have to temp fit the beam unit to check your alignment. Once its aligned, use the 10mm nut to really tighten the bracket. They do tend to move if its not very tight.

Have these lights on and not very happy with output. Has anybody fitted a HID kit to these? BTW, are the H3 bulbs?

Regards

Aubrey

I really like the idea of the extra bumper mounted lights, but a bit dubious about the LR units themselves. Is it possible to buy the wiring loom, switch, relays, bumper mounts etc with out the actual lights and use another 'better' manufacturers lights?
If so, can anyone give the part numbers?

Spoons - yes of course you can get the looms etc and do it piecemeal, but the LR units aint that bad chap. The LR units give you all the pieces, so you can add better lights at a later date.

The LR wiring is only available with the LR lights, the switch & mounting frame is available seperately

OK, if I go with the LR kit, what are the immediate options for increasing light output, bulbs or new units?

I recently had the driving lights fitted by the dealer, but I didnt realize that they are only on with the main beam which I dont use much unless I use the "flash to pass" feature. Is there someway to ge them working with the low beam ?
