AM / FM Radio's to stop working in 2015

Came across this today...I was certainly not aware of this before, anyone else??

http://new.uk.music.yahoo.com/blogs/touchi...our-radio/

So, all us D3 owners will have a radio that does not work in 2015 !!
Is anyone aware of a conversion that will be offered or is this going to be the biggest group buy ever with TLO for a new head unit ?? Big Cry
 Cheers Ian

I heard the same in car on the way to work this morning. It would appear that there is some sort of adapter that can be plugged into an input in an ordinary FM receiver for digital reception. No doubt they will cost a fortune though!

I am not 100% if this will actually happen that quick, but they are planning a "scrappage" scheme on old radio's.

Let me assure you that you radio receivers will continue to work perfectly well in 2015 just as they do today. The media reporting is highly selective.

The intention is that the transmitters in the UK that send out the signals for national and regional radio stations will stop sending FM type signals.

Local commercial radio stations are not affected and will still transmit using FM. Stations transmitting using AM (on medium and long wave) are not affected. Stations in countries outside the UK are not affected.

The biggest loss will be the RDS system that provides the traffic announcements and the hidden data in the Classic FM signal that is used for real-time traffic updates on some GPS navigation systems.
