Hi Baden, I viewed your gallery & see you also tow a trailer. Have you had any problems with stones bouncing off the trailer & chipping the Disco rear door paintwork? I had this on my Jeep and am considering putting on mud flaps. Question is would the mud flaps be a problem in soft sand?
I also got good info on the BRS tow bar, thanks.
Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I have put the standard LR mudguards on , and while they don't help much for mud Shocked they do reduce stones flying up . I have heard of them being damaged in thick sand but won't know first hand until next month when we attempt Khaudom

Thanks Heine, I got a good lead at http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/post212768.html#212768 which suggests using the Defender's flaps as the Disco3's are too rigid.

If you do break them I hope you do not damage the bumper attachment points for the flaps. Let me know.

stone chips when towing

when we tow on gravel we do get stone damage to the rear of the vehicle despite having mudflaps. this is especially bad with the coopers cos they pick up bigger stones. we effectively sandblasted the front of our trailer this past december although I had covred some of the front with a barrier made of an old groundsheet. I have considered a few different options but remain convinced that mudflaps aren't the complete answer. the mudflaps do stop paint damage to the vehicle behind the wheels though. I will post pics of my trailer solution once its done. basically I am having a tarpaulin manufacturer make me a triangular piece that fits from the tow-hitch back along the bottom of the trailer and then stretches up to the top of the trailer so that anything coming out the back of the D3 hits the tarp and is deflected sideways. hard to explain but you will get the idea once you see a pic.
