Full length bright finish roof rails |
|
Does anyone know if the full length bright finish roof rails are available as an accessory for D4 MY2012 ?
I recall seeing a post from Nick (TLO) a few months ago saying that there were supplier issues and they weren't available.
Thanks

Might be wrong, but i think they are still unavailable, Duckworths might be worth a go, i think they had some for sale recently, failing that the bay of e might be your friend!!

They're on the list of factory fitted optional extras at the moment for MY 12

Thanks Bill.
I suspect I may now be too late to change my factory order to include them but will give the dealer a call this morning and see what they can do.
I must confess I could only see the full length rails in black on the MY2012 factory options list. Would you care to post up the link to them ?
Cheers

What a plank I am. I've just had a look at the list and you're absolutely right. The list is for Black Rails.
Sorry if I raised your hopes P.

No worries Bill. Raised hopes being dashed are nothing new to LR owners I suspect LOL !
I need to decide whether to try to change my order to full length black rails or to wait and see if the bright finish ones become available again for dealer fitment........
To be blunt, I'd rather have rails factory fitted - I just don't like the idea of the dealer messing about with the factory fresh car. Probably illogical I know as they must have done it dozens of times but I'm nervous anyway...

I would feel exactly the same way. Go for factory fitted.

Am I right in thinking that the standard (ie short) roof rails are sufficient to cope with large roof boxes on the D4 ie you don't need to fit the extended bars if the box is one of the larger sizes (such as we currently have on our MPV ?
I have always assumed that the length of the bars wasn't relevant provided of course that you also have the cross bars fitted.
I'd still prefer the long bright finish rails I must say.....
Thanks

I have a Thule Exellence and it sits nicely on my Disco 4 with the standard roof rails and cross bars.
