I'm not familiar with Autel but what I can say that GAP is a dedicated LR diagnostic tool. I can also say in my own experience in responding to members diagnostic issues, there is no small number of them on here who have sought help using generic tools. Only later to find they needed a GAP tool in the end to find the problem!
The other important factor here is the "back up" service from GAP. Any member who has had to seek GAP assistance will tell you there is simply no comparison.
In my view it's like most things in life, you get what you pay for. So it's GAP all the way for me, no question.
from me too.
This was my situation some while back with my D3 when the Iid tool was in its infancy; 7pm Saturday I thought I had bricked my car while updateing in the CCF, I sent GAP an email asking for advice and they instructed me how to connect the Iid tool to my car via my phone and they would take over setting the car up from their end over the internet don't ask me how I don't remember but I do know within a few minutes the car was up and running, unbelievable any time let alone 7pm Saturday night I can only give GAP 10/10.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Morning All, so I have had a refund from eBay for that AP200M. Appears no one has any at the moment. Its looking like the AP200 is no longer an option, unless someone on here knows where i can get one?

I have both the IID and the Autel AP200. I may sell it as I suppose I don't really need it. I tend to leave the AP200 in the wife's car and the IID in mine.

IID is NOT "just" a diagnostic tool.
the D3/4 RRS etc. are complex motors, you will def. need the 25% of what it does more than any other device.
some day... when you need it and do not have it, the LR dealer or indie is your "friend" ofcourse
but then again, they take your money, you could have spend on an IID and you still do not have it then... and again and again... just MHO
tip: you get your money back for almost 75% of its initail price when you sell it after you are ready with LR'sBest regards

I bought an AP200 a coupe of years back. It’s been handy lately in getting codes. Swithering on an ID tool as I’m sure I could get my money back selling on again . Only thing was I’m toying with chopping in the Disco for something else.

Finally, after 130 self-indulgent-my-problem posts, I can finally add (value?) to someone else's.
After some forum encouragement and whilst SWMBO wasn't looking, I bought a white Autel AP200 yesterday from eBay France, for € 60 plus outrageous postage.
The seller was not too happy, as you can see from the WhatsApp messages, but was genuine is his communication and sent the UPS proof of postage.
Hopefully I don't now catch some Bull*hi* Brexit import tax.

Such excitement at the arrival of this via eBay France.
Just need to figure out the apps.
Not likely to stop me asking dumb questions however
