There are many different kits available to remote start your heater.
They either tend to work by RF remote control. Start at £50 for DIY to £150.
or via mobile telephone network where you txt your car to start the heater. These also have a tracker and start at £300.
The disadvantage of the SIM versions are that you have to keep the SIM alive during summer and unsure credit isn't wiped. So I would go for the cheap RF versions, unless your car is parked a long way from your bed.

+1 for the Altox...
been there with the cheap solutions.....
one building in between you and the car... not working...
at work, at the shopping mall, at the airport, etc...
GPS tracking is a big advantage but evenmore so the buildt in fault reader etc..
SIM only card... fixed amount each month will solve the "keep alive" issue, with prepaid..
I like the comfort of a always working Parking heater, everywere
Best regards
Harold

I guess DEFA isnt a common brand in the UK, but its a really nice system. I have the DEFA Smartstart system on mine and it comes with a charger/cabin heater/outlet/remote(RF) and it gives you the option of timed climate either on 220V/Webasto. If power is connected it will heat the cabin and the coolant with 220V(if you got the water or block heater which is a option) or start the Webasto if not connected to power.

That’s quite a use case you have there.
At the airport would the car battery be charged enough?
And shopping mall

Tbh i do not understand what is funny about the way i use my parking heaters?
I use them for more than 30 years… in various cars..
i worked in city’s, used them both daily with office work and after diving holidays in the tropics comming back in mid winter (by plane yes) with snow on the car here… or otherwise
I find it very frustrating in having a parking heater and a frozen car, because it did not start, because the remote has no reach (what happens to be always if not at home)
I live in the country side.. when going to a city to do groceries, when i want to warm up the motor 30 mins before entry, i am most of the time further away from it than 200m or even 400m distance…. With buildings or a shoppingmall in between yes…
And timed heating, works only for me at the start of the day, but never at the end of the working day… since if not working on the clock i never leave offices at the same time.. let allone, that there is always the occasional chat when walking through the building at the end of the working day….
Been there, done that, since 20 years it is GSM opereated remote’s only for me….
I do not think this is strange… but not everyone is the same ofcourseBest regards

Hi and thanks all
have seen some of the other options and they would be Nice but lower down my priority list
I had one of "Discostick" remote start units back in Jan 2015 sold some years back after changing cars

Was hoping if I get an IID that I could have enabled the TC
There are then 2 settings in ccf that need enabling..

So if you or another former owner never did an firmware upgrade…….. maybe its still there, but then you can see it on the screen…
But I’ll doubt it….Best regards
