Just buy the device from a UK supplier (if you are in the UK of course), get it the next day and eliminate the risks of the unknown.
There's no discernible advantage in going direct to GAP Diagnostics. They even recommend getting it from a local distributor. It turned out cheaper too (when compared to correct import duty and charges levied).
The only advantage I can see is if on the odd chance the courier somehow undervalues the item and incorrectly charges you a reduced amount to release the goods. Are you willing to take that chance?

@ Clint C. TBH, importing a part, every good even, from another country (every other country even after brexit) is liable to import duties and VAT on top. So why should that be a sticky subject? Best regards

you did get it supplied WITHOUT*) VAT from outside EU (or you should) so 20% off and pay French VAT at the border.. = plus 21% (?)
import duty NOT made in UK goods = 9,x% and made IN UK is 3,x% import duty (if correct TARIC codes are on the correct form (that is an issue, a lot and i mean a lot UK suppliers THINK or are lazy that those code's / forms do not need to be filed in/mentioned...)
a few quid on admin fee's (between € 15 and € 20 is default...
€ 6x VAT sounds about right when a item is bought for € 4xx
so it is NOT extreme on import duty's
we import on daily basis from outside EU, 70% from UK, 30% rest of the world..
*) IN the UK, there is a "rule" that quite a few company's (i think till 100K a year) are not VAT liable, so they can not deliver without VAT.... ALWAYS check a buyer first on that, OTHERWISE you pay double 20%+21%
in the EU we do not have that VAT exeption, or at least only till 20K a year company's Best regards

Hi Harold
I knew that import fees would be due but sometimes things slip through and I kind of hoping this would be one of them. Cheers.... 👍
