Getting car in neutral for propshaft swap

I'll be changing the propshaft on our 2015 D4, so I know I need to turn the propshaft to get to all the bolts. From what I've read I need to jack 1 wheel up and get the car in neutral to turn it to access the remaining bolts. My question is how can I keep the car in neutral and get the handbrake off without starting the car as the rotary dial only raises when the car starts? Or do people use the neutral over ride under the cup holder, or can you start it, do what you need then shut it off again, is that simple and I'm overthinking it? Thanks 👍
