Got my first Disco 4

Hi Folks

So having loitered on the forums for some time last Wed finally took the plunge and bought a 2012 D4 HSE @ 104000 miles.

She feels great, looks tidy and appears to have been very well taken care or with full service. Cam belts changed and manifold too.

Any advice for care and maintenance appreciated, i budgeted up to £1000 a year. Realistic?

Congrats. Thumbs Up

In principle it should be possible particularly if you DIY at least some things. Like changing engine air and cabin air filters is easy and fun. So is changing oil oil filter in the D4. You should be able to get away with ~150 eur (so ~130 GBP) annually on those if you change them all yourself. That’s pretty much it for regular servicing.

Brake pads eventually, but certainly not annually unless you drive a lot.

Assuming both differential and transfer box fluids have been replaced and the ATF as well I think you’re going to be more than fine with that budget. The problem is when unexpected things occur.

Hi and welcome Thumbs Up

although you have fallen foul of one of the rules already Question

no photo then it didn't happen Laughing

nice colour, we had the same with Arabica leather in our RRS and it always looked 8)
but I may be biased

regular service is well covered by £1k its the other stuff that can add up but its only money and it averages out, no surprises in first few months and you will be very happy

Thumbs Up

Haha thanks, weather hasn’t been great so here’s one pic.

Thanks for the advice, i was a bit nervous about the oil change but having watched a video, ye looks totally doable and think i will be certainly doing that.

Fuel filter looks harder, might leave that to the pros as i can’t lift her up.

She’s getting a good check up by mid-engineering wantage next week who look like a great place to help take care of the beauty.

Welcome. I love the positive and optimistic start to Discovery ownership. Laughing I'd add another £2500 to your budget and put a bit aside 'just in case'..... Whistle
