HDC Fault, suspension lowered
Hi all, as above. I’ve had this fault pop up. Suspension has lowered.
I’ve done some reading, various causes it seems.
I’ve tried changing the brake switch as was cheap and easy, no change,
My front suspension was randomly and very occasionally lowering over night now and then a while back so I ordered a valve block to change this out and see but still waiting for it to arrive.
Also read that battery can cause this fault so checked the vintage yesterday and was 12.7 switched off and 14.2 running which seemed ok to me.
I’ve just tried to read codes with my AP200 but it’s playing up.
Can anyone please recommend anything I could try? Sod’s law as really needed the car Friday. 2005 Disco3 HSE Auto 😁

Rear right wheel speed sensor is showing up as faulty. That would cause issues. There is a sensor fault in the gearbox module that would also point to that.
Wish mine was as simple as that. I have the electronic locking rear diff and even after a new motor assembly I still can't remove many of the same faults that you are having. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some more answers.2004 Disco 3 HSE TDV6

I had the same happen a while ago. The cause of the fault was a broken wire to a wheel speed sensor. Easy fix that time

Thanks all for the replies. I will look into the speed sensor. Not sure I fancy taking the rear hub apart though if I’m honest.
Out of interest, how will that affect the suspension, or is it just that everything is linked?2005 Disco3 HSE Auto 😁

It’s all linked together (someone much smarter then me could explain why) a bit of a worry when it happened but a quick fix and it all sprung straight back to life. The sensor isn’t expensive so you could buy one and connect it without fitting to the hub, connector is under inner wheel arch. Turn the car on (without driving) see if your problem is resolved. If it is carry on and fit it. I’m sure from memory it’s only one bolt, no need to take the hub apart.

That’s great info’s and a good idea, thanks very much.
Think I’ll pop to Advanced Factors tomorrow and plug in and try as you say.
Then go from there.
Thanks again.2005 Disco3 HSE Auto 😁

Please excuse my lack of knowledge here, but how did you know rear right sensor? Is it in the codes or does one of those codes mean rear right?
Also, once fitted, will it sort itself or is it a case of clearing the codes myself?

Number 11
VDM - Vehicle Dynamics Control Module
C1A93-13 Rear right wheel speed sensor circuit. Permanent.
A lot of U codes are information faults. If one module isn't receiving the correct signals, it can't pass that on to the others that require it. These Discos are a nightmare as everything is connected.
The ones to look for are C or P codes as they indicate a possible faulty component (or wiring to that component).
Mine had the same faults in the ATC that were due to the locking rear diff motor. Replaced that and go the ECU flashed and everything is now cured.2004 Disco 3 HSE TDV6

Incredible. Such a fantastic car stopped in its track by a £21 bit of wire and sensor kept in place by a 8mm bolt.
Sorted, all good. Thanks again for the input, this forum is fantastic, hopefully this will help someone else at some point too.
Until the next time 2005 Disco3 HSE Auto 😁

Glad it's done. These are a pain for a small item causing a whole host of problems. It's a good job that we love them unconditionally 2004 Disco 3 HSE TDV6
