We've had diesel freeze overnight - must be some sort of additive you can add . Petrol vehicles where fine , all the diesels had to be "thawed out" first

biggest tip i can think of is to RELAX when driving, the car is more than capable, it's usually the user that screws it all up.

Would be good to take a few people with.
I will let you know when its in a more formal stage. the accomodation will be lodges but it can be changed to suit . the route has escapes and tar road bypasses if the conditions dictate. It is designed as a snow trip so be ready to leave at the drop of a hat. Have to get the safty aspect sorted. got stuck on a mountain side there once when they blew up the road making it impasable . November and it got to -10 that night. in my defender. it was cold .

Was involved with the construction of both Katse and Mohale Dams, so have a little experience of the area you plan to visit. With regards to your concerns, during winter months “winter diesel†was available in Lesotho from the local filling stations and has additive to reduce the risk of freezing. Snow is fun black ice is nasty, not always recognized for what it is until it is too late. Snow chains were used to combat this problem and normally only fitted after at least one vehicle had got stuck. Beware of the black cotton as should you get bogged down in these areas the only way out is a tow rope and a second vehicle. It is unlikely that you will encounter any difficulties on the route you have planned. Should you require detailed information regarding the roads/conditions suggest you have a chat to Ashley Thorn whose family has lived in Roma for years. You can contact him on Tel/Fax: +266 2234 0202 (o/h) Cell: 082 773 2180.
