doing car stuff this weekend. Came in for a cuppa, and after 5 mins my 10 year old came in and said "Daddy, I've been helping".
I asked him how, and he said "I've been spraying WD40 on the wheels to make them shiny....." We had a bit of a discussion about how brakes work after that, but at least he's enthusiastic.....

could have been a lot worse ... scouring pads are good at cleaning dishes, so surely great way of cleaning a car .

Great - when my car was picked up by the AA a few weeks back he AA guy told me about a bloke who was being helped to wash his car by his daughter - reason for AA call out was she stuck the hose into the filler cap and proceeded to fill the fuel tank with water

I remember as a 6 or 7 year old lad my Dad saying to my Mum that he needed to put water in the car as it was overheating. Wanting to help, I said "can I do it?" He asked me if I knew were the water went and I said said "yes, of course". My dad stupidly accepted my reply. It was only three miles into my dad's commute to work on the Monday morning when the car sputtered to a halt.

on an expedition a few years ago through some Australian deserts, we were travelling in convoy for a week or two. In the convoy was a couple with their 4 year old, who we taught to write her name in the sand. We were taken, one morning, to see her handiwork by her parents - she'd scratched it into the side of the car..... they weren't sure quite whether to be pleased that she'd learned to write her name, or annoyed about where she'd done it!
