I started a thread regarding this problem on my D4 59 reg.

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic91439.html

Just had LRA out.

No fault codes showing and it would not replicate the problem whilst he was here Evil or Very Mad

Hi all,

Just and update I have had a chat with the engineering team today. They seem very positive of getting a fix for this concern within the next few months, however are not saying any more at this stage.

I will keep you all posted.

Kind regards,
Liam

I have just had my 1st brush with LRA over a similar issue. The guy was brilliant and correctly (so far) deduced that it was a razor sharp brake light sensor that was activating and that automatically cuts the supply of fuel. He spent 20 seconds adjusting the sensor and it has been fine since.

Not sure why the brake light sensor cuts the supply of fuel Confused

just a thought DG is it to do with the pressing the accelerator and brake at the same time which I believe cuts the power (by cutting fuel?) as a safety measure ?

are we on to something here ? after all you often take your foot off the brake and straight onto the gas pedal so if the car thinks the brakes are still on ?

Well although I acknowledge it, I've not experienced the problem so it's difficult for me to say. You get reduced throttle under dsc and fuel cut off during crash mode but I'm not aware of how or if the brake has an effect on throttle during normal braking accelerating circumstances ....I'll take a look later Smile

DG this may go back to the 'driving style' comment I think you made _ so you may have had a point after all

despite the indignation it provoked Laughing

BTW I believe you get fuel cut off under engine braking as well

Well I'd hate to be controversial Whistle Laughing ...but it's not just a Land Rover thing as all other makes that use the ZF seem to have 'some' users reporting a similar experience....so it does exist ...but no one seems to know how.

Obviously, fuel flow will controlled under varying circumstances but I'm not sure it's actually "cut off" so as to speak except in crash mode..

LR Discovery 4 - Hesitation

I have a 2010 LR Discovery 4 XS with the 6 speed automatic gearbox. I've experienced a similar issue. The issue occurs when entering or leaving a roundabout or when accelerating away after a corner.

After coming off the brakes and pressing the accelerator I get nothing. I can slowly push the accelerator to the floor and nothing. No increase in revs and no forward motion. No lights on the dashboard or anything else. The car was in 'D' at the time. I don't know if this reporting anything different during the issue but will keep an eye out in the future. After approximately 1-3 seconds I can feel the car start to move but there is no sudden lurch of power but more progressive.

I've had LR assistance out after the first couple of occurrences and there was an error code (I don't have the code) on the gearbox ECU. The car was taken in and no fault was found. A full software update was carried out and although the car has been fine the problem has now reoccurred twice over the last week. I have to admit to losing confidence in the safety of the car and feel frustrated that LR have stated no problem found.

I'm going to book the car in again for this issue but wanted to know if the above specific symptoms were common with anyone else?

Thanks

davek101 your issues sounds like a brake light switch failure - easy replacement - do a search on here to find out more

LR Discovery 4 - Hesitation

Thanks. The only difference is that I've not had any dashboard lights when I've encountered the problem.

I need to check my documentation but I think the switch has already been replaced under warranty.

9 years on.

Was it

a) brake pedal switch?
b) software update (6 speed gearbox)
c) other, if so, please state.

This happens to our D4 2009 HSE with 6 speed

Changing fuel filter helped a lot. 3 years on but less than 10k miles vehicle it is hesitant again.
Noticed brake pedal needs pushing down a little further to start (brakes are very good). Like the brake pedal switch is not registering a light touch to brake pedal (1/5th of way).
Thanks
