When you say smooth supply mode what would do the job ?
The ECUs need a steady voltage to write the firmware - a normal charger produces too much voltage ripple. I use a CTEK MXS25 which is fairly tried and tested - a great charger, but not cheap. Smaller versions like the MXS10 will help to supplement a good battery. Jump leads to another running vehicle (with a healthy alternator) are the alternative for longer flashes. You must not do anything that causes voltage fluctuations during flashing, so ensure any cables are nice and secure etc.
During flashing the hazards will flash and the doors lock and unlock - this is perfectly normal, a feature of the CANBUS system. Be prepared to be presented with many lights and fault messages on the instrument pack afterwards - these will clear after cycling the igntion and clearing faults etc. It can be very unnerving at first, but just follow all instructions and you will be fine. Thanks I will be very carful now you have put me straight. I would not do anything too in-depth as I am not familiar with it but will start small and build up to larger stuff.
This my first read out notice transmission 5th gear fault, that is part of the problem with the autobox I think.

You need to clear the codes, go for a drive, and then see what comes back.
The many comms faults could be indicative of a poor battery.

New or recon gearbox needed. It just confirms what I have been told I am going to try and get it sorted this week. I will start with getting a few prices and then make decision on who and go for it. I have just been paid off a biggish contract so I can afford up to £3000 That should do it, I wanted some new tyres (as mine have Michelin on which are just road tyres) but will have to wait. Getting the box sorted is the main priority

It would be well worth taking it to a specialist for an initial diagnosis.
Thanks Mikey, how close to you come to the English boarder ? I would love you to look at it and I don't mind traveling. Is it something you would take on or is it like you say a specialist thing ?

TC replacement isn't an issue, but I am far from an Autobox specialist. They work using magic and witchcraft My D3 Build Thread

They sure do..I know a guy who is a jeeeeeag specialist but his field of expertise is autobox rebuilds. I have genuinely never seen something with so many bits and bobs in it, incredibly complicated. It is something I would never even consider taking apart...unless it was never going to be used again. 3 Flash Indicators
