Injector coding

So I have just swapped in the jag donor engine complete with injectors. I’ve written the codes down while I could see them. It seems to take a few turns to start, but I’m not sure if that’s because I’ve not coded them yet. Is that possible?

As far as I'm aware, no coding required.

As far as I'm aware, injectors always need coding. The amount of fuel delivered needs to be measured extremely precisely and manufacturing tolerances aren’t quite enough. So they’re made, measured, and a code marked on each individual injector that describes the flow behaviour of that specific injector. The ECU needs those codes to work out the length of time to fire the injector to deliver the right amount of fuel.

No coding required for D3. Thumbs Up

This relates to the D4 I’ve just done. I’m sure they start and run uncoded, but wonder if the slightly long cranking is due to them not being coded yet. Been tidying up bits after the body off.

They have codes and the option to code them for a reason, all a diesel engine requires is compression and diesel and in the cold working glow plugs good luck

OK I wasn't aware you were referring to a D4 and so yes it does indeed need injector coding even though it will run without doing so.

Very likely to be contributing to your poor starting which should be almost instant. Thumbs Up

D3 does NOT require coding.

Cheers. Will do it tomorrow. I have Icarsoft so will be interesting to see how it shows injector numbering etc! Do you know if all tools use the same logic for injector numbering by any chance?

Cylinder designation is not the same as injector designation so be aware of that before you begin. If you do a search on here the designations for both should pop up. Thumbs Up

Icarsoft 2 wouldn’t work. Let me put number in but when I saved I got an application failed error.
