Anyone any ideas where I could obtain a cable that I can use to feed the tin tent from a 32amp supply.
Appreciated.Paul.

First - what is the connector supplying the high current?
Second - have you changed the internal cabling in the 'van and fitted an uprated "fuse" box?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

If the mains input 'van RCB is limited to 16A, then that should trip out preventing >16 amperes being pulled down the cable. It's also possible to get an inline 16A trip switch to place between cable and source
Nothing done as yet, allwizardty yo me any advice appreciatedPaul.

I personally think you are fine using the 16A cable. As long as your main van RCB is rated 16A then the cable shouldn't be in any risk of carrying more current. The 32A source should be protected itself for short circuit issues.Dave

Not sure what your concern is but all domestic socket ring mains are 32amp rated fuse/breaker in your consumer unit. The two ends of the cable terminate back at your consumer unit to form a ring through each socket hence the word ring main. Therefore the load is split. However if you are just fitting a single spur feed like the one to your caravan it would only requiring a16amp fuse/breaker. The feed is not split.
Are you having problems with the breaker tripping or fuse blowing?

Appreciated.
Are you asking for a replacement "Orange Cable" ?
Does the site provide you with a 32 amp supply as most camp sites limit you to 10 or 16 amp
The picture looks very like a 16 amp outlet. There will be a circuit breaker somewhere to limit it, and it could be to less than 16 amps as some sites are 10 amps or even 6 amps.
While the comment above about a ring main is true in houses it does not apply in a caravan as they are wired as spurs from the main "fuse" box The limiting factor is what you can get from that box in the picture, and I would be interested to find out why you think there might be 32 amps available.
Whatever you do - don't think of using two sockets at the same time. It is a long explanation about poly-phase supply that can be summarised as "BANG!".A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Photo of supply taken up in Scotland last weekend whilst up at the Borders Hill Rally & isn't a 'site' as such (hard standing yard in the middle of a forest).
Some of the other Marshals were hooked up to supply & I thought I'd like some of that!
When I asked if it was std site hook up I was told it was 32A & that I'd need an 'adaptor'.
Electrics aren't my strong point so I'm bowing to those with greater knowledge.Paul.

Ahhh I understand now.... looking at the photo again I realise that the 32A plug/socket is a larger size that 16A. The twin tail black cable in the photo is an 'adaptor' from 1 x 32A large plug to 2 x 16A standard sockets.Dave

These "bollards" have blue connectors which are rated maximum 16 amps, and there is (usually) an equivalent connector fitted to the caravan. In the caravan the connecter leads to a sort of fuse box of some kind that supplies the internal 250 volt sockets, charges the battery and gives a 12 volt supply to things that need it. So all you need to connect up is a standard 16 amp cable - plug on one end, socket on the other. Connect to the connector on your caravan, roll it all out and connect the other end to the bollard (some it is connect and turn to switch it on).
Camle from most camping/caravan shops, or online. Might even have them in Halfords.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Thats a 32 amp socket, 16 and 32 amp look the same just a slight difference in size. The best way to do it would be 32 amp distro breaking down to 16 amp sockets but you may find other ways easier.MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0
