Why did JLR remove D Pillar speakers on HSE???
Just curious..I'm more familiar with D3 HSE which has speakers in the D pillars (rear most pillars) but noticed my D4 HSE doesn't have D Pillar speakers (2012 SDV6 HSE)..is it a lesser stereo or were they just not required?

My 2010 D4 has them, does your car have the Harmon Kardon upgrade? I think it became optional at some point and maybe they only come with the HK option?Mark

Thanks LT, I knew it must have been discussed before and tried various searches but to no avail. I can't believe I finally get an HSE D4 with loads of toys and it hasn't got those damn extra speakers I was hankering for . I hope as with get d3 the wiring is there to add speakers, but I assume it really needs the better amp to run them and do them justice.

I have the D-pillars and speakers sitting around but not added (my 2014HSE did not have the higher end stereo). Anyone know if they can just be plugged in, is the wiring there, do I need the amp?

Interesting.... my father in laws D3 HSE had them, my D4 HSE Lux doesn't.....
I have the HK sound system in mine and frankly its crap......
No bass at all, lots of treble. I reckon the Sub is either knackered or missing....

my 2013MY Freelander 2 had the 825W surround systems with the D pillars speakers and the sound quality was incredible, true sounding surround and good base etc. Way better than the 380W that was fitted to the 2 Evoques ive had which were still very very good.
fast forward to my current 2012MY XS spec with the HK system, but 'Meridian looking' screen interface and although not as good as the 825W im still pretty impressed with it. I normally have the dog or dogs in the boot where the sub is located so I don't have the volume up much these days though.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

I personally think the hk system is better than the meridian.

In fact, as an audiophile I would go as fas as to say that the hk system in the d3 d4 is one of the best CAR stereos I’ve ever come across. It’s better than the same system fitted to the rrs and the ffrr. Must be something to do with air space.
all over the wife’s Audi b&o system in the Audi, and that was a 3k option!
