If you are talking about what is above the console in the cubby, it is a zenarc 7" touch screen using it to run laptop in the boot.
Required some major surgury to instll but slides in and out and hidden from tea leaves when in:

That is ugly, I prefer the kenwood facial. It is more neat and tidy. Can someone arrange a Group Buy ?

Caver's screen probably won't win any awards for factory-look integration, but it does exactly what he wants it to do and seems to work perfectly.

You need to remember that he is running a full computer in his D3, not an aftermarket sat-nav/media player which is basically what the Kenwoods are. I'm sure the cost of the Xenarc screen was also around 25% of what a Kenwood/Alpine/Pioneer equivalent would be.

Considering the cost saving, the extra funcionality and the fact that Caver is happy, I think he did well.

OK, I've been quoted 33pounds for the Kenwood fitting kit, plus postage of 11 quid to Oz. If anyone in Oz is interested, send me a PM and I'll look at a group buy. Postage should be pretty minimal as more are purchased, and without doing an accurate exchange, it probably works out around AUD $75 for the fitting kit. As Caver pointed out, on the latest MY cars, the black should blend well.

Definately interested, any double din should fit it. Very Happy
Maybe Dicso3 group buy?
Sideview, did Kenwood give you a RRP?
Justin, where was your price from?

I didn't get an RRP from Kenwood Caver. On this Web site - http://www.car-vision.co.uk/product_info.p...c571b61cb0 it's listed at 67pounds plus 45pounds shipping (to the US anyway). Justin's quote is much better!

If you look at the pic of a kit it looks like it will:

http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/techn...ting_kits/

Any idea if it includes the adaptor plugs?

Now I can get a double din facia kit I would concider putting it in there instead with a single din head unit below it. A neater setup and less surgury behind the unit (check depth of unit and dept of D3 opening)
Zenarc do a unit which is motorised now and has a DVD player in the space below the screen.
This would give you a DVD set up and adecent streo and a VGA input from a laptop.
The best method is an old laptop and solder in a switch wire to the power button. Alternaste would be a mini note book in the glove box.

or a car pc under the passengers seat if you dont want it removeable. much cheaper, purpose built and out of the way can handle voltage variations when cranking, superior power supply options and less likely to fail when being bounced around.
