L3 Air Suspension Issue - please help |
|
Hi all
I was wondering if anyone can help me with a 2005 Disco 3 with an aftermarket air compressor which is not running.
I installed the new air compressor after the old 2014 genuine AMK was removed in poor condition and was failing. At the same time I also replaced the front and center air blocks also,
Cleared a couple of fault codes after installation using ICARSOFT, it ran for five seconds only, will run if relay is operated manually.
I assume the 2014 AMK replaced the original Hitachi, but never has given full range, enough for road use, no Idea if any CCF software upgrade was done, unlikely.
The ICARSOFT is stating that there is 0A going to rear left corner valve, right corner, steering valve, reservior valve, exact current etc but I do not know where to start looking.
Seem the ECU is not connecting to pump and air blocks although the genuine AMK did run, changed as front suspension was low and failed MOT.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Rich

Itis best to change "like for like" with the air compressor or you will need to modify the CCF file.
Alongside the relay (battery box) is a fuse which was updated from 60 amps to 70 amps check if this is blown. Pull it out to check as the underside contacts can get burnt.

thanks for your reply
i have checked all fuse with a meter, all good
a LR specialist garage says it is because it is not a genuine AMK pump,
but i believe it is the CCF software upgrade, i will book it in for that first

The CCF has nothing to do with upgrading the software, its done through the EAS ecu, even if the software is not updated as long as the system is functional it should work.
With what you have said above I would start looking at the front passenger side connector block under the wheel arch cover and also in the rear right block just behind the passenger side rear wheel for any broken/correded wire's.
Can you check live values for the height sensor's.?

hi, thanks for advice
the front air block was replaced, aftermarket, first, the old pump ran but no change in front height
the back was OK. ordered a center air block, on reconnecting pipes the air dryer thread failed thats when i ordered a new pump.
Online there are mixed messages about CCF upgrade, some say it is only for running speed, others it is a must when changing from Hitachi
i will check all connectors, including back.

I've had a similar problem with an air leak from the threads or a crack in the end cap of my pump, but mine was a Dunlop, very similar to Hytachi. I purchased a service kit from 4x4airseals which included drying media, filters and a new quality end cap with fittings. they may do an end cap for your AMK, which may make yours serviceable again. They are a very knowledgeable firm with great instructional videos, and even more information if you buy something from them, I learnt a lot. If you can get the pump to run and the air tank to fill that's a good start.

thanks for your message
when the thread failed, the only supplier for the air dryer housing was in China, three week wait, it arrived this last week
on removing the AMK LR 2014 nothing inside the air dryer!!
i will put the AMK back with the new housing, empty, just to test
thanks again

Why would you change the compressor because the front was low ?

morning, it was replaced only because of condition, the screws snapped while undoing, the housing had nothing inside, no spring mesh or inner lining

hi all, after waiting a few weeks for my small local garage to plug in their scanner, i had only driven
maybe half a mile on the stops before the pump came to life and the suspension worked, after weeks of only a three second burst from the pump on clearing codes a short road trip was all it needed Why? no idea but still working
thanks one and all
