From the FSO website;

We look at each case carefully – and the time it takes varies significantly. It can depend on:
how complex the case is and
how long it takes us to get the information we need, to get to the bottom of your complaint.

This means we can sort out some complaints within just a few months. But some can take over a year.

Abernanteagle - This is also from the FOS website -

"We will always keep you up-to-date, so you’ll know what’s happening with your case".

Still no answer.

All I've had is a letter from the FOS telling me that they have all of the information and will be dealing with it. Can't remeber if they gave me a deadline...This could go on for months. Yawn Hope not a year, although it will be by June next year!

I'm having to flash my fog lights instead of my main beam at night, otherwise I get angry motorists flashing back with my beams stuck on.

As soon as I have an answer, I'll post it. Thumbs Up

Could be worse. It could be my engine!!

Don't be so sure, my inlet manifold failed on my old ML, they would not pay, said the engine was covered but not the inlet manifold!!!
Left me with a £850 bill, good bye ML and WD.

M3DPO - Like any Insurance Policy, its all down to the terms and conditions of the contract.

Upon what basis was the claim refused ?

Still no response. I can't believe how long it's taking!

Every morning when the post is delivered, I rush downstairs to see if they have responded!

Inlet manifold was not listed, but the engine was!!
They told me as it was not listed on the policy it was not covered and would not discuss it further.

I won!!!!

As you all know, I lodged a complaint with the FSO (financial Services Office) and about a week ago they called me to see if I was prepared to go 50:50 for the bill. I told him no so he said that he would call me to let me know his decission. The next thing I heard was from the Ombudsman telling me that they have found in my favour, but Pinnacle Insurance are disputeing it.

They can dispute it as long as they like, I've been given the ok and if I have to, I'll go to the small claims court to get it.

I haven't had chance to talk to the ombudsman yet and will seek his advice as to the best way to get my money.

So, thanks once again to the members, namely BBDisco3 who pointed me in the right direction.

If you have a complaint about WD, and you believe you are in the right, stick to your guns and don't give up!

Thanks all

Well done! Glad some knows how and has the galls to stand up to them, I hadn't at the time , I was further humiliated by Mercedes at Lincoln who came out the the statement "can't you afford to have your car repaired sir", this was after I had just spent £850 on a service with them and they had kindly "lost" the service record document which to this day (7 years ago) has not been replaced, claimed it was lost in the post, although it was sent recorded delivery.
And you think some LR services are bad.

Thats excellent news. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

It just shows that if you feel you are right and have enough evidence, you should never give up.

Should Pinnacle still refuse to pay, they will be in serious breaches of the FSA rulings.

I don't think you will need to go to the small claims court, but there is a simple process to go through if needed and I can let you have more information if it goes that far.

Lets see what the next few days bring and don't forget any repair cost must still fall within the policy limits to make sure you get fully reimbursed.

The Ombudsman may also award you compensation for the upset.
