"18.5 ft" instead of "18.5 in" would be just as bad an error. So it's not the unit that the problem. It's a user error, not a metric error. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Better than the sign at the entrance to a car park in Littlehampton that says the height limit is 2.134 m (i.e., > 2.1335 and < 2.1345). Hmm, accuracy, expansion of the posts holding the sign, tyre pressures? Someone just converted 7 ft to m.

An accuracy of 1mm does seem to be a bit extreme for a car park sign.
I often see construction drawings where, for example, the draughtsperson has just taken the floor to floor distance and divided by the number of risers in a stair. And then writes a millimetre dimension to two decimal points! I look forward to meeting the chippy that can cut timber to 100th of a millimetre accuracy. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Exactly my point. The subconscious mind notices the difference in units in Imperial but not in metric.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I noticed the error between m and mm. Hence pointing it out. I accept, however, that some people will find it less obvious.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I used "m" because I thought a point may be made by using "0.0185 m"; I changed the value, not the units. But, hey, its a good job I don't have a job where such things are important.
Twenty years ago, in a discussion with French engineers at Airbus, I was surprised to find that a refuelling pipe in the wing was specified as having a diameter of 101.6 mm: the response was that they could just as easily make it 100.0 mm but merely humoured the 4" specc'd by the British.
Similarly, I had to nod and look sympathetic this evening when SWMBO told me that her first batch of blackberry jam hadn't worked because "1 kg of caster sugar is different to 1 kg of granulated sugar" (well, surface area to volume ratios might be different).

Perhaps we should go back to times when there's "a girl to help!".
Youtube has some great old films for those who like to have a look back to the good old days. British Pathe has a channel for those that are interested: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGp4u0WHLsK8OAxnvwiTyhAVisiting from rrsport.co.uk
