LR Insurance
Having had my renewal with A plan go up £200 this year I decided to try LR insurance. Was told on Friday there was a problem with the system and they would call me back. No call back so today tried again and apparently the system was showing my vehicle as a van and they couldn't give me a quote!!
The guy looked into it and has now come back to me saying that as its over 5 years old they cant give me a quote All sounds like a load of ballcocks to me.
Anyone else get a quote a 6yr old Disco???
Unfortunately looks like Admiral group may be getting my money as they are cheapest by over £120!!
Mine's a MY11 and I went with Adrian Flux this year. Admiral and LRI were both complete numpties when you start asking questions of them and their cover.
Lots of comments on the forum about all three insurers mentioned above.

if you want/need offroad cover you wont get it with admiral.
AND you wont get a lot from LR insurance either if you want offroad cover.
having been burnt with LR I....I would be wary of just what they offer...get it all in writing
I went for two years with LRI after leaving admiral...had a letter telling me I was covered for LRE TREC days etc...two years on I find I had no such cover cus they don't do it....case is going to the ombudsman.
@galwaygreen. I know that Allianz has been underwriting LRI recently, but do you know who was underwriting it when you took your original cover out a few years ago?Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! I don't need off road cover. Tried Adrian flux but not really that competitive as had higher excess. Its a minefield and for a few quid difference I would have stayed put but over £120 is too much to ignore!!
Take on board the Admiral worries but the group insures my van. Guess you only put a insurance company to the test when you have a claim

no is the answer...I thought I took my first lot out with the old provider,,and it looks now like they didn't do it either....I know DG on here has had issues with them in the past.
recently I have had contact with Allianz after LRCS got involved....I gather high level talks are ongoing
to try and resolve the crazy situation...if you buy a landrover you would expect to go off road...
trouble is the don't want to insure you.

When I phoned LRI before a recent Exmoor trec day I was told they don't cover off-roading of any sort.
It does make a mockery of the brand and, as I spouted off in a different thread (http://www.disco4.com/forum/topic142831.html), LR marketing should be very careful who they dish out brand licences to.Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! They do seem to make life difficult for themselves as per my recent thread...
Ultimately I had to force myself to overlook the problems I had with the numpty on the phone because once the off-road cover issues were clarified the level of cover v price is far better than most.
Don't be confused by events and general offroad cover ....LRE Trec day is an "event" and no normal policy from any provider would cover that.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I'm just trying to get first cover with insurance companies. My LR3 is SX and has a bodykit which doesn't enhance performance so would think it shouldn't add cost. One insurance quoted me over 3 x the lowest cost! Also, I'd like to find out what kit it is in case I need to replace any of it. Are there loads please? Thank you
It's a bodykit and I'm sure an insurer would therefore see it as a mod...even if it has reduced the performance Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets!
