Which Mattress For Back Of D3?!

I’m looking to get me and the missus a new camping mattress but also want it to double up to use in the back of my D3. I was looking at double mattresses but think buying two singles would be more versatile. I have been looking at Self Inflating Mattresses over foam ones but there is just too much choice!

Any suggestions are welcome Thumbs Up

Thermarest (half inflated) and cheap foam mattress from Ikea does the trick for me. Mr. Green

What do you do for the gap behind the drivers seat Del ?

I usually have my head at the tailgate end so no dissapearing pillow, though that void is usually full of stuff. Don’t forget I have a full length load deck with loads of camping stuff stored underneath. Thumbs Up

Thanks Thumbs Up

I did look on ikea but didn’t think their memory foam alone would be thick enough. I did stumble across these which seem good quality, not sure how they compare to Thermorest either.

I’m also not sure if two of those would fit side by side in the back of the D3!

Ive just been getting the Coleman DuraRest Double Airbed it fitted perfectly in the back of the D3, I just put my bag down the void and put my pillows on top worked the treat! the airbed is a little bigger than the space on the width so it just jams in place which is fine. go it at go outdoors for £54.

another vote for the air mattress above Thumbs Up

If you still have the back seats in just fold them forward and lower them into the footwell, that's what I do with mine. Creates a totally flat floor right up the the back of the front seats Very Happy

And the winner was......

I ideally wanted two singles but settled for the double. I opted against the airbeds as I hate them!! I’ve never had a good nights sleep on one yet! It should be arriving tomorrow so this weekend we’ll drive somewhere close by to try out the D3 camper 8)

We use the Kamper Kip 'Luxury’ 10cm self inflating mattress in the back of the 110 and the D4, 2 of the luxury 10 mats fit perfectly in the load space on the D4.
They also do a double that is the same width as 2 ‘luxury’ mats and also 10cm thick - well recommend as we have used them frequently over the last 3 yrs

Tested it out for size and comfort tonight and it’s so comfy Very Happy

I had to break it to the missus it was £110 but made her lie on it before she gave me a telling off! She said she wanted to have a go at me but it really is comfy and worth the money Whistle

When camping in the car, what is the legal situation regarding having a drink. Key out of ignition and or not sitting in the drivers seat??

Andi.

Would depend on where you are. Do that in a motorway service station and, if over the limit and caught, you’d be catching the bus for a year minimum. “Public place” ISTR is what’s specified in the law. Lay-bys, pulled off the road at say a beach, sea loch or the like would be covered. Drunk in charge of, not drunk driving. Thumbs Up

And remember different level norf of the border.
