Motor Movers.

SWMBO and I arrived home about 13.00 hours today. As we reversed the caravan down the drive the off side motor decided to malfunction with a horrible noise. Bits of metal falling from the body. The mover is a 6 1/2 year old Reich. Any suggestions as to repair, renewal or replacement. No earlier problems but uncannily the previous Truma mover also gave up the ghost at 6 1/2 years.

Friend of mine has just had the same problem with a Reich Mover, bearing failure causing the gears to collapse, no parts available just complete units.

Personally have a Powertouch, eight years old still going strong, I believe the Powertouch now comes with a five year warranty.

I have a 10 year old Reich that has been great, if I had to buy now I’d look at the Powrtouch

Got a Truma on the twin axle.
New in 2009, now on 2nd van.

You would think you could get parts for your unit.
That goes for any unit to be honest, with the price they charge.

As above i will replace mine when the time comes with a Powrtouch.

Thumbs Up

Another vote for Powertouch, excellent product and superb aftersales support.

We had ours for 8 years on 3 different vans, replaced the rollers about halfway through with excellent help from customer services.

Changed to a twin axle last year, had 4WD powertouch again.

I have a friend with a Reich and he's had nothing but trouble and is about to bin it and go powertouch.

Ive been looking at this just as a method of lining up the alko lock to save me man handling it. Many suggested using the car but I like to reverse on pitch, remove from car and level, then lock.

Many suggested the Powrtouch due to the backup although I'm still looking at cheaper alternatives.

Try Lock and Level much cheaper and once you get used to the process very very easy to use

Just had the powrtouch fitted to our Twin axle (2000kgs) only the 2wd version but much improved over the old Truma unit. Gets it off the road and up the drive, dont have an issue with levelling as we have the E&P self levelling system, but previously used the lock n level and that was really good and simple to use.

Russell, the Lock and Level says you can use as a jack on a TA, if it’s a rear wheel can it lift the front high enough to lift the rear then?

It’s a single axle van, my issue is that I arrive on the pitch, level with jockey wheel front to back and then have to align the lock. I normally man handle it but it can be difficult.

It’s a two person job to align without a Mover really.
