Rain, rain and more rain! Will be some good puddles round us later
Immediate over my 11 plate HSE, it feels a lot firmer with a lot less roll. Brakes are also tighter, as might be expected on a newer car.
Are we supposed to run it in at any revs, can't see any advice in any of the booklets.
Also, it seems quite high or is it me? (This is normal setting).

I px'd our 2007 HSE for this one. I did not think anything out there would be as nice a drive. But hey this is something else. Until you drive one you won't understand. I hope the 5 will be the same difference 'if' I get one in a few years. But in the mean time
I'm going to enjoy the one I got!

Storage space has decreased, one of boxes in rear has a daft shelf, top glove box is smaller and I'm missing the little cubby in the dash besides the special programmes button.
Otherwise I love it . Particularly the wireless phone streaming, thank God!*now enjoying* D5 Namib Orange HSE 68

Further observation the 8 speed gearbox is a big improvement on the six speed.
Cruising in the late 70s (speedo overreads officer!) it's at 18-1900 revs, older Disco used to sit at just a bit over 2100. It means the car is quieter and probably more fuel efficient. I like.*now enjoying* D5 Namib Orange HSE 68

dont get your hopes upon fuel consumption
I think my MY16 is slightly worse on fuel than my MY12 was, and they were/are both 8 speeders Only occasionally will MY16 get into the low 30's on mpg. Old one would do it regularly.
I ran mine in for a couple of thousand miles, just took it easy, didnt rev it highly, and changed the oil and filter after 2k miles.

Running In - Page 223 of the Owners Manual:
RUNNING-IN
This vehicle is built using high-precision manufacturing methods, but the moving parts of the engine must still bed-in, relative to each other. This process occurs mainly in the first 3 000 km of operation.
During this running-in period of 3 000 km, observe and follow the instructions below:
• Do not use full throttle during starts and normal driving.
• Avoid high engine speeds (rpm) until the engine has reached its full operating temperature.
• Avoid labouring the engine by operating the engine in too high a gear at low speeds.
• Gradually increase engine and road speeds.
• Avoid continuous operation at high engine speed and abrupt stops.
• Avoid frequent cold starts followed by short-distance driving.
• Preferably take longer trips.
• Do not participate in track days, sports driving schools, or any similar events

Well I will try to avoid the track driving....! Since we are miles from anywhere the warming up isn't a problem either.
I hope a bit better mpg on this than my old 11 plate six speed....*now enjoying* D5 Namib Orange HSE 68
