New Disco4 on Order
Hi all.
I'm so happy that this forum exists, just found it yesterday and have been reading through all the topics on Disco4.
I do wish i found this site earlier.
Just recently I placed an order on a new discovery 4. Have been searching for over 6months for a used one but these machines just don't seem to depreciate much.
I needed to have a vehicle before Oct 15th has there is a family wedding happening and so hoped to have a 7 seater available to help with the transport. Well...the choice was a brand new 60plate for delivery at end of Sept, or a 59 plate which would have been £3000 cheaper.
I went for a brand new one cause the savings on a used one wasn't that great.
I paid £48,500 for a HSE model which had the following extras:
Side steps
Privacy glass
iPod link
Mirror caps
Front and rear mud flaps
Grand black wood kit (piano wood)
Premium carpet mats
I wanted to order the heated steering wheel but because this vehicle was one that was being produced and ready to go, the dealer said it wasn't an option. I could place a brand new order for a vehicle but i prob wouldn't get it before November. But seeing the colour was what i was looking for (Santori black with black leather) i decided to go for it.
The price was the best i was able to negotiate, and was the best out of the 5 dealers i visited.
What to you all think? Was it a decent price, or did i overpay?
Also....how's the fuel consumption on the disco4? Land Rover states an avg of 30mpg, but what's the real world situation?
Thanks
Kap

What was the scale of your discount? Mine was £1500. However, my total cost is £53,700 OTR (went to town on the extras).
If the delivery doesnt make it in time for the wedding, the dealer may loan you a car. Mine has offered for a date where I may need the extra seats and the car may not be in.

Welcome Kap!!! U don't need a heated steering wheel down in London, honest! Saying that I've had one fitted to my D3 as it is fab when it's down to -18c up here! Hope you enjoy her when she arrives.

It's about right for me. Town/country pottering and mine (after 4000km) drinks a little more at 11l/100km. Longer trips including stretches of motorway between 80-140kmh and it sips a little less at ca. 8-9l/100km. FYI 10l/100km is 30mpg. Onboard displayed average is slowly dropping towards a flat 10l/100km as the motor runs in a bit (or my foot becomes lighter) but it's still actually 10% optimistic on average. HTH.
PS: You will love it.using arm rest more than rear diff

The size of my discount was approx £2000, with the dealer providing slight discounts on the side steps, caps and mud-flaps.
Either way, it made more sense purchasing a new one with 3year warranty and 1st yr road tax then going for a 2yr old one with 1yr warranty remaining.
Cant believe theyre holding their values so well.
Just hope i get, at the minimum, an avg of 25mpg fuel consumption......!!!

Short runs 3/4 miles am getting 25 on a run can get it up 30/31 and with tin tent on back and bikes on roof coming back from France around 70 18. Still it is nice and still makes every time I drive it. Made me even more when a hybrid Pirus puled onto the camp site and set up a tent and it pi##sed down, might be saving the plannet but very very wet MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
