To be boringly practical, surely the hidden cost is in the length of time you will have to keep the payments going on the new one versus the old one. Or am I missing something?
That of course is the elephant in the offer Along with the fact that the Landmark is a run out model and if the D5 is immense and affordable then it delays a move into that. There is also the unlikely possibility that D4 values plunge when the D5 is launched. But the man maths make a lot of sense to me and another 3 or 4 years in a high spec D4 is very attractive.
Thanks for all comments The offer is mine to confirm by cob tomorrow and the Grey would be my first choice. I'm waiting for a comparison valuation on my own car meantime. Either way I'll have a great car, I feel fortunate to be in this position.

Go On Dexter. You know it makes sense!
I'm in similar talks with the dealer I usually use as a result of your post. Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

The D5 will be plusher and more expensive no doubt about it so having one of the high spec runout D4s is a great thing to have in your back pocket. With no defender replacement as well I think the D4 will remain very desirable. Dealers will have no problem shifting them on the forecourt even with the D5 in the showroom so I think trade in value should be pretty good MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

i did exactly the same, had to spend £3000 on mine, So when offers the deal seemed no brainer. Had mine now for about 6 weeks absolutely Brilliant glad i did it. was worried about values but as dealer said there will always some one looking for 2-3 year old Disco that can't afford new?

Got my sights on a Sainsburys Silver Landmark , it's a very good price too already but ... can anyone tell me what the Landmark price was before all the discounts/forecourt clearouts took place? Obv chopping the 11 plate D4 in but just want to make sure I get a good deal on the new one.
The dealership is fantastic and I have very high hopes of being able to do business with them, just want to make sure it's a fair deal without great expections on both sides.

Hi, basic list price is £55,300 by the look of things. Inc VAT.
Seems like 9% or so discount is to be expected.

Four dealers all offered me 7.2% through CarWow.
Subsequently I was able to up this to 9% by negotiation, but got cold feet due to Brexit, and lower than expected P/X / Sale price for my MY09 D3.
Maybe next quarter.... Am I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

Ah well.... each to their own - my missus wouldn't let me get away with it - she'd be pouring over the finite detail of the finances involved and tell me to go back out to work if I wanted the deal.

I didn't say "man maths" was necessarily correct. New warranty, 5yr service plan and reduced RFL all help in the equations though. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
