Scwede was your original install the HK with logic 7? I’m interested in one of these android units but can’t work out if it will fit, as I understand the logic 7 is a bit of a pain to replace/work with.

Mine was and it works perfectly. All the audio is connected via AUX and the original system is basically untouched.
Now I've had it all apart I reckon I could have it back to the original manufacturer setup in about an hour.

Exactly.
It's a bit slow when booting up but thats to be expected. I added Nova launcher to it this morning and it's such a huge upgrade.

That's true but so are many new systems, once up and running it's pretty good. There's probably a faster processor version out there but it works well enough. 2012 Discovery 4 HSE Sumatra Black

Scwede did you get yours working again?
Been searching for days on internet for something and this keeps popping back in my head.
Cant seem to beat it for the price.
Mine will go into a SE with Hi-line 6CD system (not Harmon). But will be happy to pipe if through the Aux socket.
For those of you that have for one of these do you think it will be a reliable unit ? 2005 D3 SE Auto, zermatt silver

I've used mine extensively since I fitted it and it's on the money. Response from seller has been very good which is a good sign.
I'd recommend the modem, android auto/carplay lead and reverse camera as it's not that much and makes a big difference to experience overall.

Erm..
Mine is faulty, not the car...
I'm trying to sort with the seller. It's basically just an Android tablet that's been customised to integrate with the vehicle so it's likely I'm just unlucky.
It randomly rebooted and then one day wouldn't power up. There is power to the connectors.
But I haven't lost faith in it yet 2012 Discovery 4 HSE Sumatra Black

Thanks for the update Scwede, keep us informed on what happens with the refund or new one
Saw this on Amazon and wondered if I removed to original screen and put this in the hole
Never heard of the company before but it may be another (albeit expensive) solution

Hmmmm ..... So I bought one of these, fitted it and all was well.
Then I installed a new launcher - CarWebGuru - and it just continually re-booted probably 30 times and finally died.
Sounds similar to Scwede's problem - did you get any response from them? I've taken it up with the supplier today. Discovery 2 TD5 gone

there will be a lot, saying otherwise... BUT chinese products with chinese quality control, like everything on Ali very often....
why not buying in your own country or its neighbours, having more thrustfull quality control , because there are actually real shopkeepers/owners living from the income they generate instead of chines gouvernment controlled firms, with no or less interest in you as a customer, as a big benefit keeping the money in your own economy..... every pound or Euro there spent is gone forever.... as is the service in 50% of the cases....
sorry.. could not resist to say ...
i hope it will get sorted, really.. Best regards
Harold

Stan B, interesting - I didn't make that connection but I had also installed that - and it did reboot a few times before failing to power up.
They have agreed to take it back for repair but I've requested a new unit as the postage is quite expensive.
I know - buy cheap, buy twice but it wasn't really the price which attracted me, it's a good system, hugely functional, loads of inputs, meshes with the vehicle systems and brings it up to date.
Plus as I said it's just an adapted tablet so no reason why it should be any less reliable.
I will keep you updated. 2012 Discovery 4 HSE Sumatra Black

What was the app you installed that caused the issues and was it necessary to install it ?
Is the motherboard going to be an easy repair ?
Good luck and maybe post some pictures of the repair to help the rest of us 2005 D3 SE Auto, zermatt silver

As with the above I installed CarWebGuru and soon after it started rebooting randomly. But... I also installed some other stuff and whilst it's conceivable a "bad" app could cause a reboot, it's very unlikely to cause the thing to die completely.
I suspect faulty hardware but it's not obvious (no breaks in visible circuits) so probably a dodgy chip or other non-serviceable component.
It should be straightforward to fix, there is only one connection to the screen, looks fragile but I'll be careful and will take some pictures.
