Re: Off road novices tyre review AT2s and MTRs

I know this is quite a few days, but I just read it and have to say, it's a very informative review, thanks! Thumbs Up

Especially this one:

Reduced levels of grip on wet rocks and flint.
Handling not as sure footed on the road.

That sorted it for me, thanks! Very Happy
When I go offroading it will be gravel and rocks most of the time and for sure it will rain sometimes.
I will also have to drive very far before offroading (the next allowed offroad area is more than 250 kms from here; one offroad tour I am going to do will be more than 1,000 km from where I live) and therefore like to have good onroad conditions. But as I said, the thing about the wet rocks sorted it for me because on my trips through mid-european mountains wet rocks and wet gravel will be the surface most driven on. 8)

And when I get stuck in the mud, I'll call my mate with his Defender and MTs, he will get me out! Thumbs Up Laughing

Had my AT2's on for a few weeks now and I would have to say that I'm extremely impressed Thumbs Up

I've stuck with 18" wheels so there was no chance of MTRs, but for the sort of driving I do (very rarely in mud) I would certainly think twice before going back to normal road tyres. As for not looking butch enough, they look a hell of a lot better than Wranglers or Scorpions. Mr. Green

I was very interested to read ronp's post about the Cooper Zeon LTZs http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic22346.html

Seems there's now an alternative to AT2 for 18" wheels. Wink
