Ive just got a RV5 with panels and its superb, sold an Rv4 a few years back and bought a roof tent.
Both fantastic with the roof tent just edging it on comfort with built in mattress etc, but having to put it down when i wanted to move was a pain.
Got the RV5 in an Oz basket on the landy aero rails and it works well, not quite the 30 second tent they make it out to be, but it only takes a couple of mins from roof to up.
Granted they are expensive but the speed of erection makes it worth while in my book.
If you have loads of room for a proper family tent on a site then one of the outwells etc will give you a better living experience but will take far longer to put up.
For touring about and pitching in confined spaces its perfect "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"
