P1247 Low boost pressure - restricted performance - LR043939

I have a 2011 3-0 SDV6 GS 35k miles
As typical with others experiences I had the restricted performance red triangle appear after motorway cruising and after letting the system "sleep" it clears. The second time it did it I was straight in with the diagnostic and got the P1247 DTC. After clearing the code I drove aggressively on and off boost and could not get it to repeat.
So a search on the forum soon showed that many had experienced this and it could be the actuator on the boost control valve sticking ( the one on the RH side, behind the intercooler LR043939 ) So I tried the WD40 and freeing routine but on the next motorway run I had the same P1247. Rather than messing I purchased (new) the complete LR043939 assembly which includes the actuator bypass valve and duly fitted. Guess what , next motorway run P1247 Restricted performance. Cleared the fault and thrashed the vehicle all the way home - no problems.
So the fact it only happens on the motorway makes me think something is sticking as if you drive like your possessed, on and off boost there is no issue.
as this is a boost issue, thought I would clean the pressure sensor, which although oily, made no difference. I am now looking at the possibility of changing the solenoid that is located front of engine at the top of the radiator cowl Pierburg 7.02428-00, but I cannot find a part number (LR0......) Can anyone help with this ?
You may ask, why I do not just take it to the dealer. Well it is well out of warranty, and to be honest I don't have a lot of faith in the local dealer. So with the silly rates they charge I am happy swapping a few parts out first to see if I can fix it myself.
So how can you help, well the part number for the solenoid would be a great start and I will give that a try.
Advice, what else to look at also ( no whistling from turbos, and performance is good. It's only done 35k)
A recommendation for a good dealer or specialist in the Herefordshire Gloucestershire area ?

Do you have any other stored codes?

If the boost pressure cannot achieve the requested threshold (boost pressure set point) for a pre-defined period of time, then a P1247-00 code will be raised and the vehicle will be put into restricted performance

Depending what other codes you may have will depend what repair is necessary. Seems to be mainly dependant on an boost air leak.

This has happened probably about 5 times now and on every occasion no other code. Originally I thought I was going to see a split hose but I cannot find anything and I would have thought if I had a leak I would trigger the code when thrashing the engine. The only other thing I thought of was a restriction in the intercooler (oil) causing a pressure drop or a leak in the intercooler but if the latter I thought I would either hear something or see staining on the intercooler core.
I did read a post where TLO had commented on a technical bulletin relation to tracking the problem with the P1247 code but the link to it was an orphan so I got nowhere.
If the P1247 comes up when there is a big gap between demand boost and actual boost should I be thinking the worst and I am looking at a turbo failure. Its just it goes really well which makes me think that the turbos are compensating for the error at present and the problem lies elsewhere.
Then again, I am no expert and I have probably got this "round my neck" so to speak

Jaguar have diagnosed a partially siezed turbo boost solenoid(the one at the front) and are looking to see if there are any vacuum leaks elsewhere in the system.

My codes are P006A, P00BF and occasionally P1247

Just had more contact from Jaguar Main Dealer.

CSOV replaced and one of the inlet manifolds is cracked.

I suspect I won't be a Jaguar owner for much longer.

A pity as I like the idea of buying British.

I like the way the Disco 3 and 4 drive, found the previous Range Rover Sport (62 reg belonging to a client) to be a great vehicle.

However I had a Pathfinder for over 3 yrs and all it needed were tyres, brakes, routine servicing and two interior door handles (common fault) it was not a patch on a Disco 3 or 4 for looks, comfort or drivability.

But nearly £2k for an inlet manifold (£1400+vat) for something that should not be failing with 3 or 4 years is a bit rich.

If Jaguar Customer Relations don't award a significant percentage in good will then it will be getting left as is and parked up.

I have said previously the dealers are the biggest issue with JLR products.

Though it does seem as though Lookers are significantly better than the previous dealers I have used.

Sorry for the rant.

Just felt the need to vent!!

Manifold is £160/170.

The rest is labour, takes 8/9 hrs.

From what i have seen by checking online is that the manifold is also the rocker cover and it is the amount of stuff that needs removed.

There is a TSB for the manifold, dated April this year.

It turns out the problem is due to the manifold being made incorrectly.

Not happy.

Jaguar Land Rover have know about this for a while I suspect.

How many times have JLR vehicles been going into limp mode due to this issue.

Mine had been doing it for over a year.

Initially only under full power.

As I rarely drive the car hard and dealers found nothing I thought nothinf more about it.

As the crack has got bigger it now causes issues as soon as the second turbo gets going.

Will keep the thread updated in case my situation helps others.

Info on TSB is as follows. The dealer I have used are also a LR dealer.

Jaguar specialist near Brentwood (Essex) has quoted under £500 for the r/h one as that is the one that normally splits.

To be honest good mechanics can undercut book times.

When i ran a garage back 94 one of my guys could do a Rover 825/7 (Honda) cambelt in half a day, he did loads.

We currently have this vehicle in for the following

discovery 4
mileage 100,00



SDD CODES THAT WILL NO CLEAR (THERE IS ONLY 1 SHOWING)

P006A


The car has just had 2 brand new genuine turbo's fitted as the offside was passing previously passing oil forwards and backwards / inter cooler / down to the dpf also wet with oil/


the car has been put back together with all brand new parts, DPF regen carried out on SDD all pipes hoses checked / front right lower valve assembly changed MAS / MAP and boost sensor changed / boost solenoids checked / wiring checked - basically everything apart from ECU re calibration - latest software update applied.



ANY THOUGHTS LOL???

Drivers side inlet manifold could be cracked.

That was what happened to my XJ

Previous to that I had cleaned the MAP fitted two brand new MAFs and had the CSOV replaced.

No longer goes into limp mode but still hesitates and jerks.
A month later the red DPF light came on, didn't go Amber first

Did a Regen using a Snapon diagnostic kit and the Soot was 62, did Regen till it was 0.3

Runs better but still hesitates and surges.

Time to sell me thinks.

Most unreliable car I have ever owned.

And one of the few I would rather keep.

There is a small amount of oil where the engine cover peg is but i thought someone had just left the oil filter on it or something?

As you look at it from the drivers side there was a small amount oil under the sound proofing towards the rear of the cover.

Not far from the peg.

There is a TSB to do with the inlet manifold cracking, can't remember the number, but it specifically mentioned the material being too thin.
