And luckily have managed not to be on the A66 during it over the last 300 years. Will make sure it doesn’t happen again. We hacked W-E from Barnard Castle to the A1, good choice of route as the last bit of the A66 was closed both ways just as we set off.
Good to be tucked up in a nice hotel in Harrogate without the view of traffic snaking for miles.

Lol, had this a few times on development sites.
Went to one and there was everywhere. I mean I didn't want walk around the back. I picked a very careful and precise path, avoiding the piles. The engineer stomped through it in his shoes and then said urghhh......

Indeed it did. I was getting “that” look from SWMBO whenever I mentioned eyesight.

Back in the day when I worked for a living (a strange concept from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, well Nantgarw) they pitched up on land next to our factory. They claimed their vans had broken down and needed money to get them fixed. The developer thought about this for all of 5 microseconds, then turned up with a digger instead and started digging a ditch round them. Like something out of an old Star Trek episode they moved on when the ditch was threatening to fully encircle them. Strangely the engines miraculously fixed them selves.
Prob couldn’t do that now as it would infringe their ‘uman righz.
