Obviously I'm coming very late to the topic of wanting to retrofit RSE into a disco 3. But is there anyone out there can help with sourcing the wiring? Is the only option as per Andy's (Ajay (UK), ) handy pdf to remove it from a donor vehicle? If that is the only option did range rovers have the loom as standard even if no RSE is fitted???

Hopefully someone can help.

Cheers

Hi Ross, I can't believe my post from 11 years ago is still proving so useful! Shocked

Any donor vehicle must have the factory fitted rear screens in the headrests as without them the specific RSE loom isn't "overlaid" in parallel with the main ICE loom. As I recall the system was introduced from 2006 onwards in both the Full Fat L322 or RRS L320 ending in 2012 and for 2008MY onwards in the D3 and D4. Facelifted RRS, D4 and the new FFRR L403 have wider 8" screens and the loom/connectors maybe different so I would stay clear of these and stick to around 2009MY if possible.

As the loom runs in parallel with the main loom it can be relatively easily separated as you really don't want to cut any of the cables!

As far as I know our old D3 is still going strong with the RSE working fine but we sold it 6 years ago and it now resides in Kenya Shocked

Good luck with the project!

Cheers,

Andy.

Hi Andy,
Really appreciate your reply and help. I reckon I'm going to struggle finding the wiring, breakers aren't at all keen on self dismantling these days, especially given the current climate, which is completely understandable. Fingers crossed something will turn up.
This is our second d3 and the first one had a fold down dvd player, we have young kids and they loved watching it, only draw back was we couldn't change the dvd or have much control over it from the front.
After reading your original post about retro-fitting RSE and being able to control what there watching from the front touch screen was the perfect solution. 👍

Patience is not my strong point but hopefully all will come together.

Cheers Ross

Hi,
My rear seat entertainment system is all up and running now, thanks to Andy's invaluable guide. The kids love it. However I'm struggling with the headphones. Does anyone know the part number of the compatible infrared ones I would need? Surprisingly my local JLR doesn't know.

Cheers Ross
