Rear Wiper Troubleshooting

Hi,

My wife borrowed the LR3 for a 1 hour trip. Now it has come back with a problem. Rolling with laughter

My rear wiper will not move. When actuating the stock the rear cleaner jets squirt fluid on the window but the wiper will not move. The rear wiper fuse is fine.

Any tips on how to determine if I have a stalk, vs. a relay, vs. a motor problem?

I do not hear the motor engage at all when I am back near the rear view window. I was expecting to hear something grinding if the plastic gears were broken.

Is the relay interchangeable with the front wiper ones (just to troubleshoot)?

Thanks!
Carlos

It probably will not help but you might try removing the wiper arm and seeing if the spindle then rotates when switched on.

A recent problem that I experienced was that the hinge in the arm had seized and the arm could not compensate for the curvature of the glass and jammed.

Writing this I realise that you can probably test whether or not the hinge is seized by lifting the wiper away from the glass. If you can the problem is elsewhere.

If the motor works and spindle doesnt rotate then the either plastic gear has stripped/broken or the other plastic support piece broke and the arm is no longer supported to mesh with the gear.
I had the gear split in 2 so i 3D printed a new gear.

We stripped the whole motor, put an auxiliary power supply to it where it jolted then completely stopped working.

I'm fairly sure we are gonna have to buy a new wiper motor.

Or do you recommend any delete kits ?
