Restricted performance No codes
Well things go from bad to worse, crazy.
Between my air suspension pump failing, the hand brake module failing, squeaky rear brakes when reversing and now restricted performance when cold.
What else can go wrong.
Well, first drive cold if I go above 2500 revs I get the restricted performance message and no power but strangely no error messages or codes on my IIDTool that relates to this.
If I pull over, clear all errors and start back up the car drives normally and also drives normally when at normal temperature.
Any ideas?

No error codes is what happened to mine when the second manifold failed.
Best get a smoke test. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

If you have the IID tool - then certain codes will not show up - unless you setup the app to show current fault codes - i'll see if i can find the setting - but I had the same issue with fault codes not showing in the default view - change a setting to display in progress / unconfirmed faults and bobs your uncle - fault codes came up!

To check your manifolds without smoke testing, check underside of engine cover ( the foam) for black engine oil then remove the foam covers from the injectors and check around the seam of the manifold/ rocker covers for oil, also check the large flat bulge bit for a crack.
I’ve don’t loads of these and I’ve never needed a smoke machine to see the problem.
Also while we are on the subject, what manifolds do people buy? Genuine? Ones from Advanced (doesn’t give a make) or others ( loads of makes on AUTODOC etc.

Update…….
Purchased a smoke machine and as per attached video there is no leaks coming from the manifolds but I do have a leak on the front of the engine.
Me not being a mechanic what’s involved in fixing the leak.

It looks to me like the 'O' ring on the throttle body is leaking - bad news, LR don't sell it separately but if you take it off and measure it, plenty of other places will be able to sell you one.
It's not difficult, there's an M6 bolt and a spring clip to remove to get to it - easier still if you remove the top fan cowling.

Thanks, yes I have a feeling that’s the issue.
When I purchased the car I noticed oil on top of the engine but didn’t do anything about it until now but glad I looked now.
Regarding the restricted performance issue I cleaned the MAF sensors with sensor spray and when I left work today engine cold I booted it and no restricted issues.
I’m hoping the cleaning resolved that issue but would the leak from the throttle body cause the restricted message?

Yes it could - I've seen plenty of those 'O' rings either split due to ageing or damaged due to the spring clip being mis-seated (some from factory), very few set a DTC - mainly I think due to having a VVT that can produce the required boost pressure at the inlet manifold even with a leak. The DTC will only be set when the measured boost pressure is insufficient and the VVT is on it's end-stop. now it's 50/50 whether the problem is with the charge air leak or the boost pressure sensor - or a combination of both - but cleaning the sensor and fixing the leak should prevent any re-occurrence.
ETA - do you mean MAF or MAP?

You can see the plastic intake elbow isn’t sitting straight/ not clipped in properly. Loosen the 10mm bolt on the left as you look at it, remove the clip and push the elbow all the way on, fit the clip making sure the locking parts are in the groove on the Y pipe then tighten the 10mm back up. Re perform smoke test and clean oil residue from any rubber parts as it will cause them to swell up. You don’t want to blow a coolant or vac pipe because you left oil on it.

Well, removed the throttle body and cleaned it up, checked the seal and replaced making sure it’s seated correctly.
Carried out a smoke test and not a single leak anywhere in fact it created that much pressure the but plug lol 😆 blew out.
So, big relief that the manifolds are not leaking and now it’s sealing correctly and I cleaned the MAS sensors as well plus changed the crappy old dirty air filter.
Took it for a hard drive cold and no restricted performance came up, noticed the car drove a bit better.
Now, I have to sort out the air compressor getting an error message on that so that’s another thread I started and a full service is needed.
