Round or through Paris?

I am driving from Dunkirk to Pau at the end of the month. Will have the caravan on the back. Most direct route seems to be through Paris. Did it many years ago and it was very easy. This will be on a Sunday. Should I go through or round? Any views please.

What time of day do you expect to arrive at the Boulevard Périphérique?

Go round. The last time I drove through Paris on a Sunday some of the unions had decidied to strike.... Traffic was awful and all the police were "supervising" the crowds with beers in the hands Rolling Eyes - no joke.

Within the last 3 weeks I went through Paris on the way down and on the way back up. Both times it was a Saturday, going down at about 9am and returing at about 1pm. Both times straight through, no problems, although I wasn't towing a caravan. Good luck. The French seem to zig zag along when sticking to one lane.

I must say that I usually take the Boulevard Périphérique - I have been through Paris in an MGA on a Sunday morning, and also in a Disco 2 at a similar sort of time.

Unless you or your passengers want to see the sights of Paris I tend to follow TomTom's fastest route which is usually the Boulevard Périphérique.

Don't trust the built in LR SatNav though!

Definately round. Depending on the time and the day, might even give it (much) more room than the Peripherique!

Round. Round. Round.

I discovered that indicating in Paris centre is a signal that you are weak and must be punished by absolultey everyone cutting you up.

Ring road always (although watch out for the mental bikers that like to filter between (overtaking) cars at approx 130mph..... Confused

Thanks for the replies. My timing means I will hit or miss Paris at about noon on a Sunday. Perhaps they will all be at lunch?! However I think I will follow the advice given in the forum and go round. Thanks again.
