Re: Safety Belt alarm (disabled) |
|
Thanks for this tip. It worked for both of my front seats!
Ecosse wrote:A very good safety device, but the beeping is so annoying (eg when moving a trailer around & need to take safety belt off).
But it can be disabled! the same system as applies to Fords works - simply turn ignition on then rapidly (within 1 min) put the safety belt in & out of the clip 9 times! On the 9th time the safety belt light will stay on for a while & then after that you still get the safety belt light but not the "beep" One caution... I don't yet know how to re-enable the "beep"

The system for disabling the seat belt Boing doesn't work on my 2015 Disco 4, or at least I haven't had any luck so far.
I have tried the '9 times' system twice so far without luck, has anybody with a new Disco managed it ?

Was the ignition on (all lights on engine off) ? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

EMcC keep trying I have disabled it on my previous D4's without a problem but my MY2015 one took quite a few attempts before it actually switched off as per this thread

Hi Dan, tried again this morning - no joy.
Tried again this afternoon - still no joy
Just to check that I have understood the rules !
I get in the vehicle with key fob in my pocket , push starter with no foot on brake pedal, lights comes on dash and instrument panel lights up.
I then stretch the belt to give me enough to play with, then, with one finger on the release button, I rapidly push the belt buckle in and out of the socket nine times.
I then release the belt, start the vehicle and moan and curse like h+++ because it hasn't worked.
Would it help if I stopped cursing and moaning

Yes that's the correct procedure, if you read the linked thread you will see the time I got it to work I actually had the engine running although I'm not sure that is necessary Cheers Ian

I have tried it with the engine running as well, still to no effect but I'll give it another go tomorrow with and without the engine running.

Was there a bong after pushing in and out?
try more in and outs in-case one or more did not register. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Brilliant that I will be able to turn this off! The noise on my Skoda has been driving me mental for the last four years! Richard
