Seat Belt warning chime - disabled
To Ecosse - I've just found your A1+ tip to disable the extremely irritating sealt belt warning chime - and yes, IT WORKS !!! - THANK YOU !!! I spent the weekend working with a trailer and the chimes were driving me crazy - as they have done for the past 6 months. Also good news that the passenger seat is now disabled so I can put stuff on the seat without having to reach over and put the belt on. Next task is to disable the "key in ignition" chimes ......any clues ?

the key in the ignition warning is tied too deep into the system to disable... we have been looking for a 'cure' to this for over a year.
Maybe steveho knows

Key in Ignition chime
Simon - tks for your reply. I have found a way to disable the "key in ignition" chime but it has a side effect..... You can pull fuse No. 40 "Key in Sense" - 5 amp rating from the passenger compartment fuses behind the glove box. This will disable the key in ignition chime but will then display on the dash, a continuous handbrake failure yellow warning light. The handbrake will operate normally but for obvious reasons I replaced the fuse and continue to search for another route .....I'm not aware if pulling this fuse will have an effect on any other system so please exercise caution.

but there is a fuse behind the glove box, specially for the key warning. Some weeks ago I put the fuse out, the engine was running normaly but when I switched off the motor and opend the door no signal came up.
The only thing I dont know is: is this fuse ONLY for the key warning or are there are some other functions behind.

Locki - tks for your comment ref pulling the fuse. It sounds like you pulled the same fuse as me - No.40 -5 amp behind pax glove box. Could you pls confirm if it was this one or was it another ?

Hi,
I hope this has not already been asked, if you disable seat belt alarm as posted it's said the seat belt light stays on after the tone is disabled. Does the light stay on all the time or just when you start the vehicle?

No its fine, just the light stays on if you don't plug your seat belt in.

Could have done with this yesterday morning! Had one of my dogs (a shihtzu - no jokes please!) sat on the passenger seat and everytime she got up to turn around or look out of the window, a paw must have jabbed the sensor and I got a bong - didn't know what it was the first few times it happened, kept expecting an error on the dash display but no little 'i' appeared... Another way to stop the irritating Bong, drape the seat belt over the back of the seat & insert the clip. Fine for short trips etc, no bong & no lights. Works on both sides, however, tried the procedure above on MY08 and it works like a dream...thanks guys.

If there is pressure in the seat then the airbags will be activated. They are also variable in their inflation based on weight on the seat I believe.
All you are doing by using the seat belt tip is turning on or off the audible alarm. You will notice the red seat belt warning symbol still appears if you have a seat occupied but not belt clipped in.
If no seat is occupied the airbag does not go off from what I understand. Side and curtain airbags would though.
