What satnav updates are available for my 2005 V8 SE?
Am I limited to the genuine LR updates and what do they cost? 1998 Disco 1 V8 A

Hi Discoroy.
Any luck yet?
I'm also interested...but they are expensive...about R2800.00
The system is from Denso, a Japanese company. I've been tempted to look at other vehicle manufacturers to see if they charge less for the disc sets...Toyota, Ford, Jaguar etc all use the same system.

I think the reason for the lack of interest is the fact that even an update imho would be a lot worse than the garmin maps. So rather buy a nuvi or similar for propably less and stick it on the winscreen. I usually travel with my nuvi when venturing to the concrete jungle. White MY2011 SDV6 HSE

I've done the same as Kabous - for the price of the maps you can get a shiny new Garmin and then keep the maps up to date for far less.

How sad for LR javascript:emoticon('')- when a car costs as much as a modest house, and satnav is offered, they really should put in a worthwhile product - especially when they're selling adventure!!?javascript:emoticon('') 1998 Disco 1 V8 A

It would be a very modest house....
Most nav system updates from dealers are about the same price, its not a land rover specific issue

Hi guys.
I find my satnav to work extremely well. Nevertheless, I have a Mobile Windows based cellphone with Garmap on it.
So, if I can't find a location on satnav, I use my phone. LR Discovery 3 TDV6 SE-2005, General Grabber AT.

Hi discoroy,
I find it a bit unfair that people blame LR for nav data problems. I think that, generally speaking, LR has no choice but to go with the nav datasets that are available.
In Oz, the dataset is by "whereis", a subsidiary of the major telephone coy, Telstra). What else can they do?
Best Wishes,

The reply above by PSC supports my point exactly - GBP 184 for an update converts to at least ZAR 2390, which buys a top range GPS herein SA, which leaves the LR satnav for dead!
The LR satnav and , probably many other in-car satnav systems, which add a huge "optional extra" cost to the vehicle (equivalent , in SA, to 10 times the cost of a good quality stand alone system ) are nothing more than a rip-off. 1998 Disco 1 V8 A

Just to clarify my post above - (I cannot post PM's currently)
Above the cost of the upgrade - there is little to be gained (I have "evaluated" later updates and found them lacking), based on the price paid. My contextual snide to been "lost" is based on experience with shipping from UK/Europe via the potsal service .....
