Mine also gives the wrong home address... but it's not a problem coz I know that I don't live at No. 9.
It's always got me to where I want to go, which may or my not be the most logical route, I try to use a bit of common sense and ignore it when necessary. The strangest thing it did was take me off the A55 through Abergele town centre and back on to the A55 at the next junction, at first I thought it knew a crafty short-cut... but at least it gave us a laugh and I know next time!As you slide down the banister of life

Just had to agree with that and post a reply. Compared to my basic TOMTOM it is poor. The one weak-link in the vehicle for me.
I usually drive 3hrs + to a destination so I always use it.
There are two fundamental weaknesses:
1. The estimated journey time is totally useless. Even before set-off it can be over 50% off. Even past half-way into the journey it is still off, but then rapidly catches up in the last part.
2. The selection route algorithm looks likes to have been programmed by a YTS apprentice. Two recent/typical examples:
i. From home (Solihull) to Portsmouth. Fast route would be M40 and A34 straight south - Satnav thinks a detour right down the M40, on the M25 and then the M3 would be the best!
ii. Drove to Yeovil LR last week for a service - direct route that I took was a lovely drive over the cotswolds, but the Satnav wanted me to go via Hereford and Cardiff!
So I now check the right route the night before a trip on Autoroute first.
The new 09/10 DVD will be out in a few months for £140+. I definately won't be buying it. Hey, maybe I should put in warranty claim as it is not fit for purpose!
But on a positive note, I don't have to worry about it being nicked, and the dynamic graphics are clear and easy to read.

In normal circumstances that doesn't sound right at all. I've posted here before that it refuses to use the A34 on any trips I make from home in Poole to anywhere north of Oxford. It insists on me going via the M25!
Make your selection from the 3 routes option. Mine will use the A34 to get to Southampton from Warwickshire via M40 or M25 depends if I choose, Short, Normal or Quick "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

the one thing that really bugs me is the lack of a 'turn list'.
The route choice map is so small you can't actually see which roads it wants to take you down before you set off.
The nav in my Nissan xtrail was far better than the land rover one.
I concur that it's rubbish and my only real gripe with the vehicle.
Considering the price I'd have thought this was one extra lr would have got spot on.Welcome "Lola"
My SatNav (Premium) has a turn list.
The ETA is accurate, remembering that it factoring in your speed.
And it's very accurate as to getting me to inputted destinations.
We do have a different map provder here, though.Have a nice day!

Well I have covered 160k in my 2 D3s and found the system is OK. I must admit I only use the nav for the last few miles of the journey.
Here is a good one to try.
When I pull the button to talk to the sat nav and say Navigation Dog Food it answers Navigation Chinese Restaurant In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

....need all the help I can get as have been living abroad for 15 years. When I left UK, roads weren't too bad and signs were clear. Now I've come back I find there are these odd yellow boxes on poles everywhere and cones seem to be stored on the roads instead of in storage depots. Very odd. D3 HSE...120k and climbing.

I like driving with a Nav system. I drive long distances a lot and to be honest if your next exit is 250 km away you can nicely plot along and don't think about navigating. One quick look at the screen tells you it is still far away. So I find driving with a Nav system more relaxed especially if you are alone in the car.Roel

I have been mostly happy with my SatNav routing me in roughly the best way, but as mentioned above I always request the 3 routes option and pick my preferred route from that. The initial route it suggests is rarely the one I'd use. I seem to recall that I get the best routes offered when I have the major roads option set and the minor roads option unset. Any other combination of these two options causes really bad routes (IMHO).
I always set the SatNav for routes, even those I know well, but I do this so that I get the TMC warnings of troubles ahead (when it's working, see my other posts on TMC to see my TMC gripes).Dr. Ian Malcolm:
