Just booked mine in for some warranty work including stop/start.
First shock was that if I wanted a courtesy car they couldn’t look at for 6 weeks
That will take it a few days past the warranty so will have to go without and walk!!
Second shock was that, they see stop/start issues all the time and it’ll be sorted no problem
I’ll report back how accurate that claim is. Discovery 4 HSE

Good luck with that Dusty, no reason why it should not be fine after update.
Look forward to your update for us all!

Car in for 3 year service this week and reported Stop/Start not working to fix under warranty.
They charged up the battery as cold cranking amps was showing low and reset the battery managment system which they say had switched off stop start. I'd already charged up both batteries a short while ago.
I had a few things sorted under warranty plus my service and brake fluid change. Spoke to a keen young technician who had carried out all the work and took a personal interest in getting things sorted. Attention to detail, interested in what he's doing, keen. This could be the start of something great !
Coming home stop/start worked every time I pulled up. Let's hope it continues. Gary

Hi Julian
I purchased the 5 year service plan when I bought the car so don't see any service charges, other than the optional items which was £60 for a brake fluid change. Sorry. Gary

Mine hasn’t worked since I collected the car in November on a 64 plate. The main starter battery died the day after I collected it which LR Assist replaced under warranty (I’m sure the dealer must of known about it but thought throw it out and let him sort it you could see crocodile clip marks on the terminals plus the plastic cover was cracked!) but LR Assist never reset the computer with the laptop. He said that the vehicle will learn it’s a new battery.
Now I’ve seen the stop/start battery in the driver side battery box I’m wondering if this has also given up at the same time?
I am also reluctant to have stop/start back working (I’d only ended overusing it and having the yellow warning light showing!) as I don’t like a engine to instantly shutdown whilst hot with turbos still spinning etc then having no oil pressure/feed to them.

By way of an update.
They had the car for 2 days and said they would need it for up to a week to try and trace the issue as nothing obvious was showing up.
I had resigned myself to the fact that it was an option that I would probably have to go without.
Anyway over 2 weeks later and the stop/start has worked faultlessly ever since
I have no idea what they did to it. These main dealers do not inspire confidence Discovery 4 HSE

My stop/start rarely works as the car can be garaged weeks at a time so I couldn't be sure if working correctly or not. Just used the car for holiday trip with external temp upto 26. I found if aircon was on then stop/start didn't work. If I was stuck at lights and switched off aircon then stop/start kicked in without fail.
All those with reported faults may be worth trying to switch off hvac and see what happens.

Update on my stop /start issues.
Previous 'fix' (charge battery and reset BMS) by dealer lasted about 5 days then it stopped working again. Back yesterday for another fix. This time loaded new software and reset BMS again. They say the old software was underestimating the power in the battery and therefore not letting stop/start to kick in. When asked why they didn't install the software update the first time it went in, there was mention of possible compatibility concerns and the fact that the experts back at LR hadn't said do it. I was told it tested good at the garage, but coming home 21 degrees out, engine hot through traffic for 40 minutes it didn't kick in once ! It did it when starting and manoeuvring in the car park last night and has done it 3-4 times this morning. Seeing how this goes. I was informed if it is still problematic they will order a new BMS sensor as they can sometimes go wrong. I also have their verbal agreement that should it still be problematic when my warranty runs out in 10 days they will sort it as if it were still under warranty.
In response to previous post, I think most people with stop/start woes on this forum are aware that it is often unlikely to kick in if air con is on.
Cheers Gary

Just a quick update. Been 3 weeks now, and stop/start still working. Looks like the firmware fix has sorted it. Fingers crossed. Gary
