Does it have AdBlu? Just thinking as it could be you're thinking of the stop/start button rather than eco stop.
Did you have heated screens, seats and aircon on? If so it might be inhibited for that reason.
There are over 70 different inhibits on the vehicle ranging from battery voltage to temperature to the direction of the wind (I'm kidding about the last one but it could be).
Has the vehicle been stood at the dealer for a while? Have you been on a long run?
If it's stopped working, you could do the following:
Drive it for a while with the aircon turned off, no heated seats, or heated screens and then park it up and leave it overnight. It should work then as you'll have the batteries fully topped up.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Tiger Recovery and Dave T thanks for the quick replies. I previously had a Freel 2 HSE and found that forum excellent. It seems this one is equally so.
The car was registered in March 2015 and doesn't have Adblue.
I have had air con, heated seats etc on and the vehicle had been stood around in the dealers for a couple of weeks. I will give it a few days and see if it corrects itself and starts working.
The car needs to go in for a service as this wasn't done before we collected it. I expect this to bed one early next month and the dealer can then check it.

Markate. Thanks. I will ask the dealer to check if it isn't working when I take it back.
I wouldn’t worry to much this time of year, mine’s only stopped itself three times this year, as others have said so many items have to be right for it to stop.
The following conditions will prevent an automatic engine stop:
1. An automatic transmission shift paddle has been used to select a gear.
2. The external temperature is less than approximately 0°C.
3. The external temperature is more than approximately 40°C.
4. The engine has not reached its operating temperature.
5. The driver's seat belt is not fastened.
6. Demand from the Climate control system requires the engine to be running, for example, when in Defrost mode.
8. The vehicle's battery charge is low.
9. Intelligent stop/start is deactivated.
10. The bonnet is opened.
Found on mine if you come to a very gradual stop with very little pressure on the brake pedal it fails to initiate the Stop/Start.

Temperatures, wind direction, radio station and colour of the paintwork etc are all irrelevant if you don't have a fully charged battery

I previousy had a Freel2 XSe too... the stop start of that only ever worked on long journeys and it would sometimes be months between instances of it kicking in
It's not just a Land Rover issue though, the 2016 Audi A6 I've just sold for the D4 had the same issue. If you held your foot on the brake it was supposed to turn off... but 9 times out of 10 the little icon would appear on the dash with a line through it - indicating that for whatever reason the system was inhibited.
Good for the lower tax aspects, but a total waste of time generally 2013 Discovery 4 HSE Lux | 2001 Defender 90 TD5 | 2007 Prodrive RB320
mine doesn't work either. seemed to be when the colder weather came it stopped.
previous it was only getting short runs so didn't work either cause the battery was down. a night on the cteck solved that issue
In your case it might well be just because it is cold

Still confident that this is all battery related.
Even yesterday with -4 degrees outside and falling snow the stop/start was working and that was in 2 or 3 miles of queues on the A500. Headlights/heater blower/wash wipe in use.
You can't do much about any of the "outside factors" which are suggested may influence it working but you may well be surprised in the result if you give the battery an overnight boost on the Ctek
Also don't forget that a light pressure on the brake pedal once stationary may not be enough to activate the engine stop.

It will be working they’re just not that active in these cars I find, mines works but it’s all condition related.

Thanks everyone for your input. All food for thought. I do have a Cteck charger and later in the week will check the battery voltage and charge it.
