Ever since I've programmed Pete's full power B.A.S map I've noticed the clutch slipping between 2k and 2.5k, but no where else in the rev range...and only using the full map from Pete, the lesser map does not induce this slip... now I'd obviously agree my clutch maybe nearing the end of it's life, but a strange "occurance" is it does not "let go" when you depress the clutch pedal as quickly as you'd expect..with the revs dipping to almost stalling when you pull up to a junction, dip clutch... half second later you still feel the clutch is "biting".
Is there such a thing as a lazy actuator? or such like? Because I'm sure the cluch doesn't slip all the time, and the slip is only on WOT immediatly (for 2 or 3 secs) after a gear change.
Edited to add: The clutch has covered 47k, is this normal? 57 RRS TDV8

I've searched and found this TSB.
Do I just ring them and ask if the TSB is relevent?
I'mnot gettign the burning smell, but the slip and "not releasing properly" symptoms seam to match.
TSB LTB00018
Subject/Concern: Discovery 3/LR3 - Clutch Slip/Odor
Models: Discovery 3 / LR3 Engine: 2.7L(TdV6) Diesel
Manual transmission vehicles only VIN-range: 5A300394-7A422271
Markets: All
Summary: A customer may report a concern of one or more of the following symptoms:
This bulletin has been re-issued to include a closing VIN.
* Strong odors from under vehicle when, or after, a slow speed maneuver (e.g. difficult parking maneuver), especially when on gradients.
* Clutch slip.
* The clutch pedal has stuck in the downward position or not releasing fully.
* Difficulty in engaging gears.
Cause: The clutch drive plate lining material is not tolerant to high heat inputs caused by slipping, becomes soft and is then damaged beyond recovery even when it has cooled.
Action: Should a customer express concern regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to renew the clutch assembly 57 RRS TDV8

It could be relevant, but remember that this is a TSB, not a recall so with yours being a 2005 D3 they'd make you pay for a new clutch whether it is due to the issues highlighted in the TSB or not.
It certainly sounds like a clutch that is about to give up the ghost and maybe the extra torque provided by the remap is causing it to slip (2000-2500rpm is pretty much in the max torque output part of the graph anyway).
Are you absolutely sure that you can't "provoke" it to slip using the standard engine mapping? Is this only under full throttle openings or also under gentler acceleration? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

my clutch and flywheel were replaced under this TSB, with symptoms being slip (albiet at manouvering speed with the 'van on the back, and still in high range), clutch not disengaging, and the burning smell. I'd done about 10k miles from new at that point.

It's wierd Paul, the lesser BAS map really does not induce the slip, even at WOT (I do not have a standard map saved on my interface..the D3 came with a modified map on it by mapper unknown)
So I'm shafted then... at some point in the next 6 months I'm going to need a new £1000 clutch 57 RRS TDV8

I was told by the dealer that mine had had an uprated version fitted as part of this TSB, but dont know what the differences were. As I learned from this experience, I always used low range when manouvering the 'van thereafter, Perhaps TLO could check part numbers for clutch parts and see if there are two versions available.

The part numbers are/were:
< MY06: URF500010
which was superceeded by
< MY07: URF500060
and this one was then superceeded by
LR005809 - this one was introduced for MY07 and now seems to be the only clutch kit available for all manual TDV6s
I think the cost should be around 250 GBP for the parts if you get them from TLO but don't quote me on that 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

If TLO can give me a quote, I have a local garage who are 4x4 enthusiasts who can change it.

Fly wheel should be replaced as well. Had mine done under warranty and 200 miles and a week later it went again, it turned out that the dealer had tried to cut a corner and cost and did not replace the flywheel the first time round. Expensive mistake for LR as the second dealer replaced the whole lot and all was fine after that MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
