Re: suspension fault intermittent over 40mph red light on

hi guys my first topic i dont normally need to post as all the info is here as a rule

ok i changed the upper front wishbones two days ago, by just wheel off, disconnecting the ball joint, link nut, height sensor slipped off its pin, brake pipe, undone bolts etc easy enough to do,

now when driving over 40mph the red suspension light comes on and warning comes up to slow down and it will go to the bump stops i can stop turn off it reset and carry on, if i stay under 35 it doesnt happen at all so far ,

am i correct in saying i need to re cal the suspension to fix this? time to buy a tool ?

thanks guys ive been reading the net for days and it so frustrating

i had my local indy change the front wheel disks and pads, but in the process the abs rings fell apart - they had to put the aftermarket abs rings. after picking up the vehicle - every time i have a very similar issue to one described above ... roughly 5-10 min into the drive, seems at just above 40 mph, the red supension waring light comes on with the slow down warning. i continue without change. the vehicle would bounce about a tad, then i feel it finds its proper footing. i continue to drive. another few minutes and the red suspension light disappears.

if i have a short stop and restart again - same thing. i have done it enough times now to notice that the speed does not have to be over 40 mph, as it happened enough under 40 but the timing is roughly always the same - 5-10 min into the drive.

i don't expect the indy did anything other than the disks/pads. and they don't admit to anything either.

can this be anything other than needing to recalibrate the suspension? before i go on a wild goose chase, i was hoping for some shared knowledge on this please.

many thanks

There will be a fault logged, that will point u in the right direction , each turn off of the key resets the fault untill the conditions are re created again.

I've got a gap iid tool now great bit of kit to sort these issues out
If you're near the new forest I'm happy to help,

thank you so very much for the offer! i'm in cambridgeshire - too far to new forest unfortunately.

i've looked through your previous posts - seems all doable once i procure the right tool ... autel MaxiAP AP200 - correct? i have something much more simple that so far was ok, but probably the right time to make an upgrade.

if you came across some videos on the internet, that would be helpful - but otherwise it does seem to be reasonably clear what needs to be done for the calibration.

i suspect that the indy took off one / both sensors from the frame to install the abs rings and that messed things up, but who knows at this point.

thank you once again!

Hi

Ref the AP200 , I have found that some don’t have the same software

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Autel-MaxiAP-Upgr...Y&th=1

Think this is the one that has the 19 x programs as some won’t program keys etc

Plse let us know how u get on as also rebuilt my suspension so indeed understand it can be frustrating at times

Hope that helps

i just bought mine from amazon, but came across the link above - these guys look legit as well, although to your earlier point it does say in the description that it would not program keys.

also - a different option on amazon but it spells out in the description: IMMO Keys (disable lost keys, add new keys) - at least some recourse if there is a surprise on arrival Smile

hi again - just finally managed to get to it this weekend. one step forward, one step back ... land rover!

i think i did the calibration - at least the Autel MaxiAP AP200 after the second attempt suggested so.

Afterwards, however, the red suspension light come on and stubbornly would not disappear. The MaxiAP AP200 would supposedly allow me to clear it, but it immediately comes back - in a flash. Looking through the codes it seems to be the C1A00-54 control module code with description "NO.16 The first time since the DTC information was cleared, or the DTC was aged, that a system malfunction was detected".

searching through the forum, the suggestion seems to be:

At the end of calibration you have to do something to put it back in normal mode from memeory.

Easy to forget. Set normal tolerance/adjustment I think

I just can't find anything on the MaxiAP AP200 - i.e. how to reenable to module, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly welcome, as always!

Otherwise, it drives fine. Better in some ways, as no longer wobbles at around 40. The only issues are the suspension light stays on all the time AND the vehicle would not go to high/lower mode from the normal mode.
