All of the Airstreams manufactured for the European market can be towed by cars such as the Land Rover Discovery the trouble arises when people import USA market Airstreams.

To see a bit more about the UK Airstreams see https://www.airstream-uk.co.uk/why-airstream

I pull a caravan (Vanmaster V640 TBEW) that weighs in at 2500kg MTPLM. I pull it with my D4 without any grumbling from either car or van. I've towed all over Europe with it without any issues whatsoever. Never had a sway or swing from the van despite having covered almost every type of gradient/mountain/road known to man. I have no problem with the idea of towing over 100% but appreciate that extra care would need to be taken. My D4 is rated at 3500kg so I would be "legal" up to that weight of trailer, be it a caravan, horsebox or Ifor's best. My van is plated to 2500kg so I can't go above that weight. My license allows me to drive a rig of this size having qualified some years before the need for training/testing was required.
So with the tow car weights reducing to increase efficiency in both running costs and improved dynamics my van remains at 2500kg. This means as time goes on my choice of tow car diminishes. There's nothing for it. I'm gonna have to invest in a FFRR TDV8!
Now who's gonna tell my Mrs?

At 80 (years old) things start to slow down BUT we are still travelling all over - down in Cornwall at present (not with airstream) and these days our overseas caravanning is restricted to France and we are trying to use the MGF a bit more.

You are a total inspiration to me mate. I'm now telling the wife we have at least another 20 years of foreign caravanning.
You keep it up. Thumbs Up
