MP3 Album Tracks in the Wrong Order - USB Stick |
|
Hi,
I have a 2013 D4 Base Australian model. I have the Harmon Kardon system.
I have my music albums on a 32GB USB stick in MP3 format, they are in folders like \Artist\Albums
The tracks are labelled with 01, 02, 03 in the filename etc and I have checked the MP3 tagging also has the correct track number corresponding to the 01 02 03 of the filename etc.
The tracks appear in a random order. Its very annoying that the albums will not play the tracks in the correct order. All the albums are like this. If I put the usb into a PC it plays the correct order.
Any ideas why this may be the case? Anyone else have the same problem?
Thanks.

This is a common problem with many poorly designed music players- not just on the Discovery.
The problem is that it is not sorting by using the filename so you can change that infinitum and it won't make a difference to the order the album/tracks show in the music player listing.
Follow the attached link and you will find an explanation and solution. It does taake a while on larger USB's but it fixed the problem for me.

I never had that problem with mine. I have a 32GB stick with thousands of tracks.
The tracks are all labeled 0001 - Artist - Songname etc. They are always sorted by the starting number.
Have you tried arranging the tracks alphabetically in the browser before un-mounting the stick? 2012 D4 SDV6 HSE - Heavy Duty, Alpine Roof, Sidesteps, modded LR RAI, Stebel Nautilus, Trailer hitch cargo carrier - Best Car I've ever owned
2013 Mercedes GL500 - Iridium Silver - The Missus' car <- new A/C right after purchase, new motor mounts after 40k km. No problems with the Disco whatsoever.

Thanks a Lot
That has been driving me nuts!
I used the FAT 32 Sorter and it worked a treat.
mrgoodkat : Perhaps you had the good fortune to actually copy your tracks to the USB in the correct order. I did check they were alphabetically listed on the PC but they were still randomly sorted on the USB stick.
Now to put a few more albums on

Please be careful using that and similar programs, I've borked a couple of sticks using them... Fixable, but you'll lose what's on there...
Best way I've found is to used foobar, create playlist(s), right click, copy to, pick USB stick, job jobbed, and all in the same order as the playlist...
