Improvements can always be made for sure. My 2013 D4 is the first LR I have had built in GPS...... Hopeless..... Cannot access whilst moving, even though passenger is there to put addresses in.
We have some very isolated roads and new garmin technology allows me to be tracked..... I guess it's going to be awhile till built in satnav catches up with mobile stick on the windscreen satnav! Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

Have to agree with DG on this one, stand alone units are very good but inbuilt systems are also very good. Its more to do with the usabillity and built in units are much better, looking at a small screen stuck to a windscreen is far from appealing, used both when i came over to the uk for a holiday and used the LR one most of the time and the garmin as a back up as it was the first time to the uk in the D3, and for speed cameras, next time not going to bother, just going to use the LR one. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

whilst it was in getting the rse looked at. I told them I wasn't happy with the sat nav so they looked at that too. apparently it had a load of way points in it (neither me or the wife have done this) so they've reset it.
It will have a good trial this week with a trip to leeds tomorrow then up to Belfast via cairnryan crossing and back on tuesday D4 Fuji White HSE with Black Pack, TV, RSE, Tow Pack, Side Steps & Heated Steering Wheel

Was so pleased the MY12 showed the A34 as a main trunk route down south and used it for routing as well, fantastic, wait 7 yrs and it was improved!
However several trips into unknown terriorty for me, including London, seem to have the stat nav sending you one way then telling you when you have followed it, that you went wrong and to turn round.
At first thought it was being slow to respond to rd position and it was me, rather than the system giving wrong direction and then correcting itself.
The other day through Chippenham and Bristol it directed me to take a right turn, which did seem odd, took it and then as soon as entered new road told me to do a u turn and carry on the way I was headed.
Conclusion: Landrover have built in humorous default.
: It only works up North as far less infrastructure and roads to confuse it. D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST
