One more tip, if you've got the factory mudflaps, remove them before you go!
They turn into little sand bulldozers, try to bog you, then tear off! Have a nice day!

Mark,
Good to see someone is older than I am, if only by a year or so. I can remember driving along McKenzie with the tyres in the water and NOT a soul in site. 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

or modify them , haven't tried on sand but should be an improvement and will not get stuffed.

Yes.. getting older. Lake Mackenzie was the place to go back then. In fact the whole of Fraser was. A lot quieter than now. I am now on my second Land Rover... 32 years between drinks; a long time.
I guess with our growing population having doubled since around 1964 and 4x4 becoming more and more popular, it does result in more areas being closed off or else being more crowded.
These days i go camping midweek out of school holiday times. Sometimes i even get the spot to myself.
Very peaceful and very relaxing. Close to Brisbane I like Flinders Beach on Stradbroke island. Me, the dog, sometimes my 24 year old daughter, a Waeco full of cold beer and steak and some good books. Heaven is the CT and the Disco by the water. SWMBO likes 5 stars, I like a million.
Cheers
